So, I left my car at 6:00PM at Dunning Subaru last Tuesday for a bunch of warrantied parts (fuel pump, GPS, tail lights).
The car was parked outside the service bay door and the tech told me to leave it out there as the service area just shut down. Next day morning at 7:30AM, I get a call saying somebody had backed into the car and broke the left rear tail light and scratched the bumper in that area! ![]() The dealership claims no liability to cars parked in the lot. No security cams, night guard didn't see anything... FML |

Awe man that really sucks! I can't believe the dealership won't cover it sense it happened while they were in possession of the car. Might be worth a call to the lawyer if they had the keys its their responsibility to take good care of your vehicle.

I believe they aren't responsible for cars parked on their lot.. but 100% responsible for cars in their possession for service. |

Does anyone else notice a sound like someone rapidly hitting a tuning fork or bell when accelerating with more than half throttle? It seems to increase in volume with rpm and its present in every gear. It's really only noticeable when the car is cold. I think it may be coming from the transmission but I don't know for sure.
I don't know if this is normal or not. I've noticed that I can hear the synchos in this car when i've never heard them in any other car so I don't know if this is just a sound i've never notice before in a car or if something is wrong. |

Have you ever driven your car through a very heavy rain? the car is a tin-box, every raindrop sounds like the roof is being caved in. I bet you are hearing quite a bit of reverberation throughout the chassis from something that is loose or not well retained. Most of my interior sounds like the clips on the trim panels are coming loose and I HATE that I can't reduce the bass enough in the stereo for it to stop vibrating the pannels. The syncro noise is most likely just a by-product of significantly less sound deadening than you have become accustomed to with modern cars. You are probably also hearing a lot of the raspy engine noises because unlike most modern cars that try to isolate and cancel engine noise and to tune a nice exhaust note, this car purposefully pipes in the engine noise. I don't think many of the noises this car makes are particularly pleasing but nothing alarms me that it sounds like something isn't working appropriately.

I used to be exactly the same way, I thought every noise was a sign of something about to turn catastrophic, then I built up more experience working in the industry, a better ear for what really is the sign of an issue, and realized most noises are just a sign of something that could have been done, but most typically intentionally weren't... whether it be just a poor design, cost, or a trade off for packaging or some other reason. As you get into cars build for a purpose of cheap lightweight and fun, the tradeoff comes in the form of a bit of a racket. I know most people will disagree and contend you should be able to do it all... and to some extent I understand that, but it's also probably why this car is 25K MSRP versus something like a S2K which is in the low 30s, it's just a bit of a nicer place to be, and for the most part that is what you would be paying for.

Sounds like a real blast! I've passed it a long to a bunch of my autocross friends. hmm, wonder what that kind of series would look like tire budget wise

You will need to adjust your tire pressure vs autocross, or the additional sustained heat will use the tires up faster, or even cause disintegration. I've seen someone stop 1/2 way through a track day because their brand new tires were loosing chunks of rubber, and they did not look too thrilled. |
