Only bold is true... Still hate the current mustang... but it's most likely that my 06 left a horrible taste in my mouth...

The S197 is the current generation 2005 to 2014 model. You're thinking of SN-95 for the 94-04 model.

And the point I'm making is that it does... and I've had more seat time in one than anyone here to have a valid opinion

Don't know about the midlife facelift one, but the 06 models sucked

It is a lot of bang for the buck, but it is how the bang is delivered that I don't particularly care for. American muscle car style. Big heavy car with a big engine, a live rear axle, and large sticky tires to keep the car on the track. A Mustang GT can be found (stripped down) for about the same price as a BRZ Limited and would crush it in a straight line or around a track. And I don't care. As much fun as it is to put the pedal down and feel all that horsepower and torque, the car is an utter pig (especially at the gas pump). It feels twice the size of the BRZ and it handles like a boat. To me, the interior and exterior is tired and Ford desperately needs a refresh (which is coming). I know many people love this style of car, but I have never been a fan. Some of my friends had 5.0's back in the late 80's/early 90's and I had my low horsepower, low torque RX-7's and I would not have traded them straight up for a 5.0 GT.

The problem with the 370z (since we are on the topic) is that it tries to be a muscle car, but it is not quite one. Not enough power to keep up with a Mustang GT or Camaro SS, and it is too much of a pig to be fun to drive like a Miata or BRZ/FR-S. The gearbox is just okay, just like the handling. And it is expensive for what you get.

i can assure you that the current mustang gt is no the 06 model. there is a lot more going on. im not going to say the 06 mustang doesnt suck because frankly i agree with that. the current mustang with that beast of a coyote under the hood is not that car.

i dont disagree with that youre saying. i do think that the frs/brz is skewing the perspective a bit. i wouldnt call the mustang a pig. i would say that the frs and miata are the anomalies of our current car selection. in a world where everything is too big and heavy, its not the worst offender. so what its not the car for me or you and its not likely the car for a lot of people on this forum but what it does is impressive. and just like that this rant turned pointless due to a little bit too much belgian golden ale. i guess my point is that the mustang is great despite not offering what brings many people to this forum

The engine can be good... but in the end it's still an uncomfortable, POS mustang with squarely live axle

the thing is that it isnt any of those things. well it is a mustang and it is live axle but it is pretty far from uncomfortable or a pos. i suggest you spend some time behind the wheel of one before you jump to these conclusions. there are probably just as many components to be criticized on the frs as there are on the mustang but in similar fashion the sum is greater than the parts.

After driving an 06 I will NEVER drive a mustang again unless it has an IRS, plus the interior is still crap

thats just ignorance. i could just as easily say i would never drive a toyota after driving an 06 anything they made. the point is that things change and the irs isnt the end of the world. people arent here talking shit on the ae86 for having a live axle and the mustang has a good 30 years of development on it. it works.
