It's got some sort of electromagnetic sensor, so phones and other electronic devices will set it off, but your lunch won't (unless you're eating electronics)

It's the electronics that cause the issue. Someone pointed this out a little while ago when the car came out. It's an extremely odd and annoying issue.

I turned off the passenger seat chime via programming using techstream.
The airbag sensor and everything still work.. Just no annoying chime.

As much as I don't like the radio unit in the BRZ I went to our local Best Buy and did not really see anything that I felt was that much better. There was one Kenwood model that had larger touchscreen buttons, but it seemed slow to respond to commands.

So now I am thinking the unit in our cars is not as bad as I thought. Still adjusting. I will say the GPS seems to be spot on for me. I have used it about 4 times now and it is actually much better than the Gamin Navi unit I had previously. That thing was horrible.

I'm sure you're all happy with your new car purchases but there's got to be some things you absolutely HATE on it. Perhaps, something that Toyota/Subaru added or removed in this car that was or wasn't in your previous car(s)... could be cosmetic, mechanical, electrical, etc. Anything goes..

So let's hear 'em!
Probably the premium gas only is the thing that bothers me.

Backing out of parking spaces. Large C-pillars make it hard to see oncoming cars/pedestrians, and the low-mounted back-up light isn't so easy to see for those oncoming cars.

You're right, I've noticed that too.. the mirrors don't give good coverage either.. need to install the convex round mirrolets at some point (or whatever the flock they call it)..

But one thing that bugs me is the inside finish on the carpeting that rubs up against the outside part of the accelerator leg. Anybody else have this? It's not flush, bulbs out a bit.

Also pushing down on the trunk lid against the glass I didn't expect it to be so flimsy.

They use a siscor type folding mount for the trunk support arms, so it doesn't fold Down into the trunk and take up cargo space. Which is nice... But its not very sturdy. The same system used on my M3.. But I don't remember that trunk lid floating on the rubber like this one does..

The premium gas allows for the 12.5:1 compression which makes the throttle response so crisp and responsive. A small price to pay.. I wasn't expecting to get 29+ mpg in this thing.. So I'm not complaining..

Correct me if im wrong, but also, "premium" 93 in the states is not "premium" over seas? Where we have 87 89 93, ive been told 93 is their 87, and then they have 94+ for the other options. Which would mean they tuned the car to run on the only gas available everywhere

Yes and no. It basically boils down to the difference between AKI and RON. I think there is a Wikipedia article on it. Happy Searching!
