you are forgetting something here

tires make a massive difference in 0-60 times and the 86 are coming with Prius low resistance tires stock. I do believe the type s came with way better tires than these MPG boosting ones

the Type-S also made 210 HP in that year with the upgrades it received and from all the reviews on that year RSX Type-S none of them state 0-60 of 6secs other than wiki most range from 6.5 to 6.7. If the guys at RSX club were running 6 flat I would believe the tires have been changed or real abusive launch with slow counting and long Mississippi in between

not below 6sec. impossible for RSX stock....

quick counting would raise the time not lower it

Of course he meant the speedometer was quick counting, sometimes my speedo doesn't say mississippi and that's how I know it was a fast run.

I'm starting to think the automatic will have identical times with the manual since it comes close mimicking a DSG. And a DSG is .2 -.5 seconds faster than a comparable manual. Just look at a 2010 VW GTi for confirmation.

And you're forgetting that these "Prius tires" are not the stock low rolling resistance tires found on most Priuses (Priusi?) They are the uprated "sport tire" option for the Prius with the larger 17" wheels. I don't know what tires Type S's came with OEM but I do know that the Acura Integra GS-Rs had pretty crappy all season tires stock. I highly doubt there is much of a difference between what the Type S and FR-S have from the factory.

did not know the Prius had a "sports" tire upgrade good to know

all the reviews mention a tires aren't meant for grip so I figured these tires must be terrible

The manual is faster because it can launch at a higher RPM, with feathering of the clutch to boot. The automatic is a beast with higher stall though.

The UK edition of Top Gear mentioned that the toyota GT 86 is slightly quicker than the MX-5. THe 2.0 MX-5 manages 0-100Km/h in 7.6seconds..... I have heard 6.8seconds floating around. Sounds about right when compared to a VW Rocco with 211BHP

Nobody has really tested it yet. We have to wait till a production car is available. I predict low 6 secs and some people being able to get High 5 secs...like 5.9 secs 0 to 60.

It will be faster than a MX-5!
