It seems to make all the sense in the world to me unless you plan on stripping the car or can't find a BRZ(which has been a problem unfortunately).

I will say the FR-S bumper has grown on me, but I still do prefer the BRZ styling. I worry how the FR-S will hold up in years to come. (Think riced out honda's with bumpers hanging off).

Well, however the FR-S holds up, the BRZ will hold up. There's no difference between how they are made... They are made in the same factory on the same line lol.

Doubtful. Just because a car is made on the same line does not mean it is the same car. The twins are much more similar, but I do see the FR-S front end having more cosmetic issues than the BRZ. Even if its just more paint chips since there is more paint to be chipped.

Or it may just be in my head in the end. I still see Scion as the original XB and those are barely a decade old and falling apart nowadays.

This. Historically speaking both Subaru and Toyota make reliable vehicles that typically have good resale value.

Now if Chrysler and VW came together to make a sports car I would be worried

I understand what you're saying, and i agree on the scion aspect - i see them as a lower quality brand.

That being said - the care ARE IDENTICIAL in all practical aspects. All main part numbers are exaclty the same, the front bumpers are made from the same materials, the same way, just in different shapes. The paint is the exact same quality, just a different color.

If you look at everything "different" about the cars - it's all end of the line items - interior items, badges, lights and stuff. the Core of the car is EXACTLY the same. (with the exception of the suspension rates)

See this video - this is a directly off the Line ceremony. Both cars are made on the same line - just in different runs. and Toyota has the bulk of production for the first few years.

I know they are the same. Researched the project for years. Like I said, its probably just in my head from seeing all the boxes rolling around.

It's all a matter of perspective. For instance, my "perspective" of Subarus is that they all come off the assembly line with a rainbow sticker on the back and a dog in the passenger seat. That's what I think about when I think Subaru and nothing about that lures me to a Subaru showroom. However I am fully aware that perspective is inaccurate and not "based in reality" but perception is perception nonetheless.

Meanwhile, my good friend races a pretty badass STI and while I think of "STI" I think "go-fast" but I could be at the racetrack and hear the word "Subaru" and still the first thought in my head is a forest-green Outback with a bike rack and an Obama sticker on the back.

And I too, think of toaster ovens whenever I hear the word "Scion".

But here we all are... in our ScionBarus and I don't think the irony is lost on the majority of us.

PS: To the OP, thanks for the May update! Good to see those strong sales figures.

Wow - FRS really doing some big numbers. 1937 units for May was the highest monthly total since the launch.

Also, on a YTD basis the FR-S is outselling the BRZ by 2.5X. So for every 5 FRS's that are sold, 2 BRZs are sold.

The twins will never be super common but if they somehow do become common I get to call myself one of the original owner/fans. Like with gaming, I was doing it before it became popular.

The new people will be posers, it's like when the RX-7 and Supra's last body style came out, only the hardcore people knew what they had but when 2001 rolled around every idiot in the world wanted a Supra because they thought they could turn it into this.

You do know that Toyota purposely builds more FRS's than BRZ's right?
