If you're holding out for a better head unit or touch screen, just pay a little extra for a BRZ Premium.

I'm waiting for the 14. I've been dreaming of buying this car since 2011. The 14 could have minor tweaks to it that fixes the first year issues they weren't aware of when they released the car. If you're in no rush why not wait?
For me I have a perfectly fine 2010 Mazda 3 that is paid off. I can go a few more months with no payments on a car. Its nice.. I hate my mazda 3 though. It has no spirit. |

my car is coming next week, but the wait feels like crap. I bought some parts and really hope nothing will screw up during the process and the delivery.

However, solving the issues is another story. When there is a solution found, they fix the current batch right away before getting to the customers' hands. If it's too late, I would not worry too much. I would just bring the car to the dealership to get it fixed. Still, I hope it is not an engine failure. That would suck. Have you ever heard of this? Sometimes when solving an issue, it is creating another issue or maybe more.. So to answer your question, I would not wait if I were you. |

Add in that any "fixes" should be performed by the dealer under warranty there's no reason to wait. The only caution I would give is if you're planning to track it be aware of the injector seals failing. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37810 |

Higher resale value is true, but it depends also how much the price goes up on the 14's and you also have to look at interest rates which are showing signs of creeping back up. On a $25K loan for instance, 1% point on interest is about 11 per month difference. Across 60 months that is close to $700 more in payments. And right around the corner could easily be 4-6+ months for folks depending on where you live and allocation. That said, if you wait you might score a better deal on a 2013 and Toyota may offer finance incentives on the 13 models to help clear them out. Just depends on how long one can wait to buy. If 4-6+ months is not a long wait then go for it. But it is not like you are going to get a drastically different car by waiting and that is 4-6+ months you wont be driving the FR-S

Get the 13 if you can find a good deal on it...if not, wait for the 2014.

If you have to be talked into doing something, then you probably shouldn't.

Best time to buy a new car is at the end of the model year. Towards the end of the year ... the dealerships will do anything to sell the remaining 2013 cars. The 2014 will be essentially the same car. My vote .... wait. Go for a deal on a 2013 .... if it doesn't work ..... grab a 2014. Only issue .... when is the 2014MY going to arrive at the dealerships?

I kinda think everyone hoping for slight improvements and fixes are kind of fooling them selves. Since the pre-order is already out I'm guessing the later production models of 2013 is pretty much what you're getting for 2014. Same poop different color.
