BP Ultimate 98 RON

What BP petrol is there in the states?

In australia, we have 91RON BP E10 (10% Ethanol), 95RON BP Premium (3-4% Ethanol) and 98RON BP Ultimate (0% Ethanol).

I have always followed the creed of Shell, BP, Chevron as the premium major players. For me, Shell V Power 93 goes into my 328 most of the time. BP has spotty prevalence in my area so I get to choose it ~ 10% of the time. I have yet to use Chevron as it doesn't exist in my area.

I plan on following the same protocol for the series 10 FR-S.

The level of refinement, literally, as well as the additives is what makes the gasolines preferred. Nitrogen enriched for Shell, Invigorate for BP, and Techron for Chevron.

Techron is available as a stand alone fuel injector cleaner additive product.

Sams Club is the closest and cheapest to my house for premium so I usually use them. I like Shell and Chevron, but neither are convenient usually.

Sometimes Sam's club/Costco is more expensive than some of the chain gas stations. I just stick with any gas station that doesn't look like it's run down and actually has a recognizable name. I have yet to do a fill up on my car but will most likely be 93 or 91 octane.

The only good (ie Top tier) gas stations near me are Shell and Mobil, so either of those. Shell is expensive, but it makes my car happy.

Yeah it's funny. For regular Sams and Costco by me (I use Gas Buddy) is usually 5 cents or more cheaper than anyone else local. But Premium sometimes is and is not the cheapest there. BP is sometimes the same price or cheaper. Sams is the closest gas station to me and Chevron and Shell (which I prefer) are way out of the way.

Sams gas seems pretty good. I have used it for years and have not noticed any performance decrease. I have noticed that I get slightly better mpg sometimes with Chevron and Shell.

Most Often Shell 91, but basically just never Arco or Costco. In order of Preference? Shell, Chevron, 76, Mobil, I guess.

GetGo (cheaper) or BP usually. the Shell station I go by is closer to the freeway, so they jack up their prices. That and they charge more for v-power there.

There are places where you can get higher than 93 (sunoco still sells 94 in some places), but by and large, 93 is the highest you can go outside of a race course.

My preference is about the same, though it's partially because there is a Shell station near my office that has some of the best prices for premium in Orange County that I've seen.

I wouldn't mind Costco or Sam's Club gas, though like I said before, I rarely go there, having only filled up their once. But I avoid Arco regardless, no matter what car I'm driving, whether it's my Evo or my girlfriend's Corolla.

USA and Europe/Australia rate their gasoline differently.

Quote:
In most countries, including Australia and all of those in Europe, the "headline" octane rating shown on the pump is the RON, but in Canada, the United States, Brazil, and some other countries, the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI, and often written on pumps as (R+M)/2). It may also sometimes be called the Pump Octane Number (PON).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_...rement_methods

I believe 98 in Europe (RON) is equivalent to 93 in the U.S. (AKI)

Only concern I have is when the station is a "family owned" or "local owned"--at least in cities. News I-teams have tested the gas at some of these stations and foudn they are selling 87 as 89 or even 93. Only time I don't support local businesses.

Here at home I buy Costco. If I'm on the road I'll stop at what ever is next once I become concerned about needing fuel.
