I'm starting to wonder if your cat failure is ultimately what killed the engine.

The misfires probably overheated and killed the cat, and once it started falling apart ceramic particles were ingested into the cylinders leading to the engine's untimely demise.

?????????????
Ahhh! Ceramic particles from the injectors, not the cat.

Bingo, look at the MR-S Spyder debacle with cats so close to the head. I am babying this FR-S till they are done with ECU updates, but all cars can backfire...

A catless header, and an aftermarket secondary cat with a post cat secondary O2 bung. This is going to become the "must do mod".

Not for performance but reliability, almost all sports cars have some quirk that people figure out a mod solution to, it usually comes 3 years to late for first year buyers.

But on this car its obvious that the header cats are a design flaw. In 3 years there will be a big FAQ here on how to decat the header, a must do mod for all used '86 buyers who don't live in Kalifornia.

Mike, you are clearly photoshopping this and posting it on a server in Japan. This issue obviously doesn't exist. It's all in your mind.

Maybe.

I wonder why he taped the brake fluid res cap. I've seen them leak on some cars (Nissans and Fords) but I haven't noticed mine leak around the cap on track.. weird.

His positive battery terminal cap is taped too. Maybe it's part of the requirements for teching in Japan.
