I'm going to get it professionally done. I was originally going to do it myself, but i've learned that due to CA laws, I cant order gallons of plasti dip from their website. There are a few shops in my area that I've received price quotes from in the 400-$500 range. I'm deciding on this matte green or matte white..matte black just seems a little boring. I have my rims dipped matte black, and it really is due for a re-dip..its just a lot harder to keep clean cause of the constant break dust (and my negligence for washing my car more than once a month). I think i will try and do a gloss black dip for my rims this time around. And apparently there is a break dust cleaner product that does wonders for plasti dipped rims..i'll look into that.

I used it on my rims before. Technically you are speculating that I'm speculating. And I also did it properly, it's a rubbery material so things will get stuck. The only difference may be that I have winter here.

So you are clearly obviously wrong. Every person will have different experiences with product especially if it is meant for being used out doors. I won't bother with arguing with arrogant people but I'm only giving my take on dipping a whole car from my experience. He can take it or ignore it.

It washes perfectly fine for what it is. I touched it up once or twice a year to cover any chrome peeking through from chips and debris, but even then there was never any real difference in look between any touch-ups.

My rims, like yours, had a build up of crap, don't notice from far but up close the color is a bit off. Bugs me, which is why I wouldn't do a whole car.

You can call me arrogant if it makes you feel better... I'm not sure how that relates to the discussion at hand though. Sorry if you feel personally offended by my comments.

I only wanted to correct you in your statement that you can't properly wash plastidip, because its entirely false. There has been plenty of people dipping their whole cars with excellent results. As with any paint, it's the prep work and application that makes the biggest difference.

In the end though, even IF it only lasted a few months... that's the entire point of a product like plasti-dip. It's designed to be temporary and cheap to apply.

Anything from a spray CAN (not shot from a gun) is going to have blemishes on a large surface...you can have plastidip shot from a gun....google it. Its temporary like I said...its throwing money away. I guess if you have money to waste thats cool, but for $500 Id spend it elsewhere.

I call people who make assumptions arrogant, however it's the internet so it doesn't matter. But like I said from my experience and from the ops as well it seems. Things like brake dust clings onto the surface of the plastidip and it is hard to remove. If at all possible. I have tried to wash it like the rest of my car but it looks clean with water over it but once it's dry you see the surface flaws. Rub too hard (had 5 coats on) and it rips. Maybe I'm wrong but if he can't remove it without reapplying another coat (which he stated) I don't see the point of spending 500 on something that lasts a few months. Which was my original opinion. I love using plasti dip but a whole car is a waste IMHO.

I recently saw a FRS that had been plastidipped flat black. It was kind of uneven and definitely didn't look as good as flat black wrap. Also, it was really rough to the touch and was textured like sandpaper.

Just dip it. Get some glossifier if you don't want it a completely matte color. I think they look great and when I get mine, I'm planning to do a few coats of matte clear with glossifier all the way around. Give it a bit shinier than satin look.

Like I said, using a spraycan over a large surface is going to look like you used a spray can but if you spend like $130 on the sprayer and buy it by the gallon you can make it look legit...or have it done by someone with a gun.

I used plastic dip on dash trim. It does what it promises but I vinyl wrapped it afterwards for 2 reasons. A little difficult to get good coverage without it turning uneven. And the bigger reason is how it felt to the touch. Didn't like the rubber feeling. But again, I think dip is a fine product that delivers but i still prefer wrap

As someone who has used Plasti-Dip extensively, I feel I should put some of your negative uneducated feelings toward this product to rest. Plasti-Dip has about 3 stages of curing depending on the thickness. The first two weeks (give or take a few days) is stage 1 this is where the dip is most vulnerable, it will feel like rubber and might have a rough texture. Stage 2 is is next this is when the dip feels somewhat "hard" (its not easy to dig your finger nail into) it will look smoother than before and have a rubbery plastic feel. Stage 3 I have found comes around 2 months after the dip has been in the sun. It will feel like vynl and have a very smooth texture (if originally applied properly) this is how the dip will remain until more dip is added. The finished product (if sprayed through a gun) looks almost identical to vynl wrap and the texture is very very smooth. Plasti Dip does absolutely no damage to paint or clear coat. As long as your paint area is prepped properly nothing is going to stick or bind to the dip... EVER. This is a fantastic non-permanent and cheap solution to change the look of a vehicle the owners personal taste. If you have some stupid idea in your head that Plasti Dip is bad then don't click on the thread in the first place!

Hope this clears some of the confusion in this thread up. So many people uneducated about plasti dip.. just posting random negative comments... SMH

A quick tip if you ever want to do it again.. you should let the dash pieces bake in open sunlight for about 3 days before reinstalling also washing them a couple of times each day.. this will make the dip cure faster and have a smooth hard vynl like feel

Another positive thing on dip is it is repairable. Fonzzy on dip your car on YouTube showed you how. Just need a little paint thinner and a coat or two of fresp paint on and around the repaired dip. That's definatly a plus over vinyl especially on the bumper
