That's funny/annoying that they keep blaming track use or aggressive driving. I may not ever track mine but it concerns me to know that it may not be able to handle harder use. That's one thing I like about Mitsubishi. They simply design their cars to withstand extreme track/racing use from the start despite being technologically complex.

I really hope they get these reliability issues sorted out soon. If they don't, I may change my mind about getting one in a few months. One of the main reasons I want a new car is for reliability. Anyway, good luck getting it taken care of.

Can't tell if serious or not. I've seen a lot of issues with Evos that are tracked heavily.

I know but I haven't seen Mitsubishi come out and say, "Oh well that's because you've tracked it. Our cars weren't designed with that in mind."

Mitsubishi is known for voiding warranties of cars that are spotted at the track/autocross...

I've heard (secondhand) stories about a rep showing up and taking down license plates

Hmm... that could be. But I used to work at a Mitsubishi dealership and from my experiences, they were always cool about it. We never used track use as a reason to void warranty work.

Would you agree that this particular type of failure just shouldn't be happening period? I'm not speaking to the CSG situation here, but in general. Should the injectors be designed such that this can happen?

So is this an update that everyone needs? I bought my car 4/13/13 and I have no idea if the ECU is up-to-date. Any advice on how to approach the dealer about this?

Just got back from the dealer - they flashed my car to the newest ROM, but sadly, it's not the same ROM they have overseas. Biggest issue the newest ROM fixes is a thermostat issue according to my dealer. :wtf:

Also printed off South Africa TSB and gave it to my service writer - he's going to look into it this week.

All mechanical parts suffer failures, that cannot be eliminated.

This is a little more than you would expect to sneak past QC.

Right, but if the parameters of the STOCK ECU mapping allow (or CAUSE) that mechanical failure to happen, that CAN be eliminated.

Has anyone confirmed whether any of the existing aftermarket tunes (Visconti, etc.) correct for this issue?
