Haha I know, I was doing the same thing until they taught me otherwise, and once I felt it first hand, honestly it's become second nature.

Am I understanding you correctly that when the rear has stepped out too far, I should still keep light pressure on the throttle, discontinue actively countersteering, and release the wheel?

Yes, actively steering is slow after turning the wheel 180 degrees from straight. You stopped at 90 degrees. If the amount of steering correction added is not enough, or it's not pointed to where you want to go, add more steering correction fast. Releasing the steering wheel, or letting it slide through your fingers, is the fastest and easiest way to add a lot of steering correction fast.

Practicing on a skid pad is a lot safer and you can see what happens when you don't have enough throttle when correcting.

I'm a little confused:
In this situation, I did not add enough countersteer (only 90 degrees). If I want to add more steering correction, wouldn't I still need to actively steer (clockwise)? If I release the steering wheel, wouldn't it quickly turn back in the wrong direction (counterclockwise)?

You're right, I need to do some work on a skidpad...

Joe..........track junkie is right..... your reaction to the tail coming around is "slightly" late and not enough......but that is being very picky....overall I didn't see many flaws in your driving....

1st thought....your camera setup RULES....very nice

Your data logger also is very nice

Here is me racing in my lemons 928 in a very similar scenario
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07fev2rnkzY"]Sears Pointless..getting LOOSE - YouTube[/ame]

The only thing that saved me was my "peak" wheel correction was quite a bit more than yours.....yes my line sucked....since the traffic in lemons is stupid....still it was a "come to jesus" moment in my racing education..... if you notice I look down right after "saving" it.....because I thought I pissed myself... :>)

Sears it NOT a very forgiving course.....mistakes tend to be very costly....there is a reason why my home track is Thunderhill....even though Sears is MUCH closer

Thanks for the guidance and the compliment on the camera setup! :happy0180:

Yeah, Sears is definitely a tough course. I find it to be the most challenging/fun, but you're right that the consequences of screwing up tend to push me to drive more conservatively at Sears. It's SOOO much closer to home, though. That drive to Thill and back from Laguna in traffic can be painful...
