Thats odd, I always thought they included the plastic BPV on all of their kits

Do you think its a permanent change in valve styles?

My kit didn't come with a plastic one, it actually came with this turbo smart one http://www.turbosmartusa.com/product...-universal-fit

I received my kit just after they switched to the new blower so I don't know if they might have switched this as well.

I have the plastic valve in the upper left
Its gotta cost more for the turbosmart valve, I wonder why some kits come with them instead of the plastic...

I have the plastic Bosch one. Ordered after the upgraded compressor came out.

It was probably a alternate sourced part when they had a backorder on the Bosch part just to keep shipping.

You guys should know it's not a like a turbo BOV, which has to seal and open at certain times in order to protect the compressor ~ since the blower's compressor speed doesn't drop as fast as a turbo (tied to RPM's) you never get the surge like you would on a turbo.

That bypass valve lazily opens using cruise to vent the extra air the blower is moving but the engine isn't using, then closes pretty quickly once you step on the gas. I didn't have any problem with either unit, and liked how light the plastic one is. I certainly don't think there's any reason to think you'd have to upgrade, just wanted to note that the black aluminum one looks nice haha.

Both the bypass valve and this blowoff valve are open and venting until you give enough throttle for the manifold to see zero/positive pressure, in which case it is closed and you begin to see positive pressure

A blowoff valve like the greddy type-RS would work in the same fashion as it is simply a push type valve. An HKS style SSQV would not work properly as it is a pull type, and it would likely be sealed at idle/cruise and cause issues as it will not let the excess air bleed off.

I would not say that you never get compressor surge with a centrifugal, in fact I would say its very easy to get surge... just remove the bypass valve. Of course, don't do that....

The blower speed being tied to the crank shaft speed would only make the surge harder on the Vortech compressor than in the turbo since it can't slow the Vortech compressor perceptibly.

You gotta love this forum. He did say with all due respect. With all due respect, I would say that if you think $200 is too much than forced induction might not have been the way to go on your car.

Bingo! That was exactly what it was so once again hats off to Vortech for getting kits out there even if it cost them a little extra to do so. Spoke to them earlier and this was exactly what had happened so they did this to continue completing orders.

Thats awesome. Many other companies would just wait for stock and hold the kits until they got it in

Well, to be fair...if it was a part we made ourselves and we needed materials, it would have to wait. That is the case with discharge ducting and why some of the kits have taken longer than we would like to get out the door. Since the valves are a purchased part though, it is a little easier solution to handle in a pinch.
