I like it. I hope Honda will be back, also with the S2000 to rival the GT86. Japan was without sports cars for a long time, after the GT-R, it looks like they are coming back.

A hybrid? I could cry right now...

I really cannot see how they can make a hybrid lightweight. I hope someone enlightens me.

The CRZ hasn't exactly been a runaway success for Honda...It's roughly 2700lbs. Compare that to the FR-S also at 2700lbs. They both get roughly the same mpg with the slight advantage to the CRZ but let's face it.. which would you rather have???

I'm of the opinion that hybrids/EVs/Fuel Cell cars have their place. They are a fantastic option for commuter cars. I'm not convinced they belong on performance cars however. Would love to be proven wrong I suppose.

This is probably the 10th time that Honda has said something like this about a potential NSX replacement. Each time the enthusiasts have been disappointed.

I do not believe it. Honda has lost its way. They make great people haulers...Odysseys, Accords, Civics and their "sportiest" car, the CRZ, but they focused on being "green" and "socially responsible" to such an extreme that they have been left behind.

When they were on top of the world, winning F1 championships in the 1980s and early 1990s, they had the wonderful idea of coming up with a jewel of a car with an amazingly capable chassis and engine. BUT IT STOPPED THERE. If they had continued to tune and develop that chassis and powertrain, as the 911 has done, can you imagine where the NSX would be now, almost 20 years later? When the NSX was introduced it was competing and bettering the best from Italy and Germany. Honda let it languish and eventually die....shame on Honda.

I hope that there will be a resurrection of the finest drivers car to ever come out of the land of the rising sun, but they will have to do much more than just talk. Honda has become the least sporting car company of all major automobile manufacturers in the world...do they even remember that they dominated Formula One racing at one time...a long, long time ago.

The hybrid power plant and AWD just kills it. Not against this technology but its just wrong for this car.

Sources at Temple of VTEC and some insider from acura say it's a hard top version of this

Source: http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=1020643

An Accessorie Borchure from someone on the inside also show that the ILX will get a coupe treatment, and will act like an RSX to Acura Line up.

I've been on TOV for years and these guys have always been very creditable.

The FRS is light, as in the CRZ. The CR-Z is pretty light at mid to high 2600s. That was my only point.

If the FRS was a failure and Honda released a ~200hp CRZ I'd likely be in for a CRZ..

They know it though. They understand how enthusiasts feel as it's been explained to them. I believe that they will come back around to the sport compact market eventually... hopefully sooner than later.

They do support grassroots racing though with programs like HPD RacingLine. They are even talking about selling TSX shells for cheap to build race cars out of (as the TSX is currently their race car model for WC).

Of course, I heard at SEMA they weren't too pleased when Honda racers instead asked them to sell brand new EG and DC shells (or even as new cars) instead

They also try to support marque specific events like NSXPo and hopefully ITRExpo this year.

Programs like that are, IMO, the only link Honda currently has left to the enthusiast/racer market.
