Love the new 'vette. Mostly because that means c5 and c6 prices should start dropping more

Then I'll have 2 weekend/track cars... lol.

Ugh, still looks like crap from the rear. Where else are you getting 460hp for $52,000 though?

Smart man. C6 Z06 would be where my money went. That or a red, pristine, low mileage, early 90s C4 (ZR1 possibly). But I'm probably the only one who kinda likes the C4.

I think the early C4 looks fantastic. Don't care for the convex rear and squared tails of the ZR-1 and later C4s at all, though. The early C4 looks so much more taut and compact, particularly vs. the C5+

Still, I'd sooner go with a '70-'72. With a cammed LS3...

Yes the C6 Z06 is probably the best buy. C5 Z06 as well as those are getting really cheap.

I don't really care for the c4. Everything before that though

Of course an LS3 kills them both!

I love the SBC, but it's hard to argue with well over 500hp from a simple cam swap in an LS3 (the LS2 w/ L92 heads, LS3 intake, 222/230 .597" cam in my FD dynoed 463 at the wheels, LS3 should do slightly better with slightly more displacement)

Do not want and old car like that one with a modern engine. The authenticity of a 350 SBC is part of the experience. I know very little about domestic performance though, so I will give you that.

The only color I think this car would look good in is black, that rear diffuser that is huge and all the vents don't look good at all to me. I don't care for the rear spoiler on either one, I've never been a Vette guy and they haven't changed my mind yet.

In a classic muscle car, you just have to use the classic engines IMO.

I'll take a Chevelle with a 454 big block in it any day over an LSX swap

Lucky to find two in the wild. Looks good in those colors but harder to look away from that hideous rear end.

I don't totally disagree. IMO, the old SBC looks cooler, and with aluminum heads is no heavier (possibly lighter) than the all-aluminum LS engines.

But from a practical standpoint, much more power with driveability is a lot easier to achieve with an LS.

Obviously, if I don't have an issue with an LS2 in an RX-7, I don't have much of a problem with it in an older Corvette!

The badestass smallblock was the LT-1, which made 370 "gross" horsepower. That's on the order of 300 or so if tested and rated per current SAE standard like most cars are now. Could probably get close to 400hp out of it with a cam.

If I was building one and didn't have anything for an engine, I'd just get an LS376 crate motor. 480hp with a warranty, easy

I feel like the C6 and C7 both tried to emulate some Ferrari design characteristics:

C6 headlights - similar to 360 modena
C7 headlights and some angles - similar to 458 italia

I'm glad they chose to upgrade the cabin a little, the C6 felt like a bucket seat in a Chevy Malibu rental car. They have some great technologies and engineering, just the wrong philosophy IMO. Only 74hp/liter because they still use push-rods. I also hope one day they ditch the leaf springs. I'm just not a fan of "muscle" and the vette retains a lot of that American spirit. Still the best American sports car.
