Is the FR-S/BRZ Right for you?

I am tired of seeing these threads. People can't seem to asses their own life and be capable of making their own decisions so I figured I would compile all the questions here and what the answers are so these threads don't show up every week...
Do your research instead of asking, only you can know if a car is good for you and your lifestyle from a FR-S to an F-250 Super-Duty.

Can you afford it?
- KBB for Sticker Price $25-29k

Can you afford the insurance/gas/maintenance?
- KBB 5 Year True Cost to Own

Have you actually drove the car and enjoy it?
- Don't know until you have tried

Does your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband/partner/parent approve of the car?
- The politically correct list of relations...and this is important. They are often just as financially tied to the car as you are.

Do you need to fit the munchkins in the back seat every day?
- Barely fits, pain in the ass. If you don't have a 4 door backup then NO

Can you yourself fit into the car?
- It is pretty little, SUPER tall and or SUPER wide people beware.

I think we all love this car on this forum.
Do you really think you will get unbiased advice? Go do the research and try out the car yourself and make your own decision, instead of asking the internet to do it for you.

And when you find the FR-S is the best car out there, buy it and hang with the cool kids :happy0180:

I've had some nice cars, and this is my favorite. If you can find something to complain about regarding this car, you either need to buy a better car or lower your expectations.

It is a taste of the exotic for a third of the price. Sucks to be you if all you can do is complain about it, and go for a drive and think about all the things that are "wrong" with it.

It's going to be a classic.

WOW, you've been here less than a month and you're tired of seeing repeats. How do you think you'll feel when you're dry behind the ears?

Garage
Basically, these kids need to tell their mommy and daddy, (who will be purchasing the cars for them), that the car is awesome, reliable, etc etc (and we will serve as proof to justify the purchase).

But just get the car (you'll get some ladies' attention too

I love mine.

Your comment was generic and could be applied to literally anything ever made by anyone ever. A teepee, a pen, a rocket, a pyramid, etc.

I suppose, but we are talking about a particular car. Still sucks to be those who complain about it. Blackfeet Indians make the best teepeee, old Waterman's are the best pen, Estes are now made in China and there can be no argument about pyramids. The Vikings built the best ones, although most of them were made of trash.

Somebody needs to make a chip dip aimed at FR-S/BRZ owners called "Torque Dip".

Seriously, what is there to complain about with this car?

Everyone should know what they can and can't afford.

To know if you like the car - test drive it - most people's questions can be answered with a thorough test drive. I took it out once for me and then another for my wife. I even transplanted one of my carseats into the back to see if it would fit.

I wouldn't say that the internet isn't usefull for descriptions of the car (how it handles, how it accelerates, functionality), but, only I know whether I will be happy to drive it. No one else is going to decide that for me.

I am not so much annoyed by people asking the question, but rather, surprised that they want someone to determine it for them. Living life is standing on your own two feet, making your own decisions, and living with them.

As a tall, slightly wider than average guy I'd object to this being a warning factor. I can easily fit, and I'd heartily recommend this to talls previously put off by smaller cars - e.g. I couldn't fit in a Miata/MX-5, an RX-8 or an S2000 was cramped and numerous other cheap affordable sporty cars are similar. It's low, no doubt, and getting in and out is occasionally awkward in tighter spots, but it's capable of being comfortable even on longer drives.

I'm thankful to Toyota & Subaru for designing this car in a way that can accommodate us bigger guys.
