Anyone planning on going to the Karts, Cars & Coffee saturday? I should be there with my new Perrin intake and FT86SpeedFactory exhaust unless the weather is really bad.

BRZ vs Deer

Only had it out of storage one day and I hit a deer Sunday evening coming home from work. This happened on M-21 between Grand Rapids and Ada. Just got it to the body shop today so still waiting for the estimate.

Woah! That sucks! Hopefully its not tooo $$$

In comparison, my story is whimpy... I got my first rock chip in the windshield today :-/

On a side note: WOJO i'm assuming you had your BRZ last fall? If so yours may have been the first BRZ I ever saw. There was a day last ~September/mid october roughly when I was headed north on 131 near comstock park and saw a white BRZ headed south

PS: I love how when you buy an oil filter from toyota it comes in a "Toyota Genuine Parts" box, but the filter has subaru stamped all over it like the rest of the car and not a single Toyota logo or name :p

I was considering going to Grattan Raceway or AutoX @ Silverdome, went to neither of them, Damn! Friend of mine with Silver EVO X went to Grattan, seems like it was lot of fun.
kask2_6.0 : How about brakes after the whole session? Where you running with stock brake pads?
I might be there for Karts, cars and coffee by 8:30 −9am (I missed it last time),
Ramiel: I would like to hear that exhaust !
WOJO: Ouch! That hurts. Hope you get it new as before.

No, I was running EBC yellow pads. They were getting hot enough that they burnt the paint off the pads. This car could definitely use some better brakes! Other than power the brakes were the weakest link. Will be my next upgrade.

Stop tech sells an upgrade kit with sloted rotors and high performance break pads and lines for around $500. Everyone I have talked to really enjoys them for autoX and track days. The more serious guys are going with a big break kit all the way around but that is more in the $4,000-$5,000 range.

Also I am up by flint for the week and will be at the Indy race for sure Sunday and possibly Friday. If you guys are meeting up anywhere let me know it would be cool to see what types of mods you guys up here are doing.

I've also been struggling with the car under breaking, the pads exhibited some fade at the Dome (should call it the un-dome) on monday between having 3 people run the car across 2 heats, and the OE Michelin tires have no grip under braking. I had some flat spotting of the tires as well when I left the event. When I upgrade to proper tires, I will be also upgrading the brake pads to something that can take more heat at the same time, they will definitely be overwhelmed when the tires have more traction.

I installed stoptech pads a few months ago and was happy with the results.. definitely more bite than the stock pads. I have stainless lines and fluid that I plan to install one of these days as well.. just haven't found the time for it yet. I'm not sure about discs.. Since I daily drive the car i'm not sure I want the slotted rotors... we'll see.

You should try a pad upgrade.. that little extra bite made a big difference for me.

Yea, trying to decide which direction to go... AP, Ferodo, or Stoptech. I already have front stoptechs which fit, I took them off my 08 WRX, only problem is after using them for a fairly limited number of miles, they warped the crap out of a new set of centric blank rotors. I took them off, installed some standard Wagner Thermoquiet OE replacements and resurfaced the rotors and it was much better, so I am a little hesitant to toss them on the BRZ. The stoptech Pads look fine, not worn oddly or anything, and I never autocrossed the car, so maybe it was just the rotors? It didn't happen immediatly so they weren't bad off the shelf.

I'd steer away from slotted or drilled rotors personally, unless you track the car, the standard blank disk should do a good enough job evacuating the heat, IMO there isn't really a point.

I think I've decided to go with a set of used STI Brembos. Obviously not as good as a set of AP's or the Brembo BBK but are less than half the price, will perform way better than stock, and be able to survive the winter months.

I'll be out at the GP Friday and Saturday.
