Opti-Coat in SoCal?

I'm looking for a professional to opti-coat my FRS in socal. So far I've only heard of Sunset Detailing but wondering if anyone else has any recommendations, preferably a little cheaper? The car is less than a month old so I don't think I need any paint correction or getting out swirl marks.

lot of choices in southern california. best bet is to check the map of authorized installers, do some research, and make some calls

I went with Sunset Detailing. No complaints. James actually takes the time to educate you during the process and gives you all the info you'll ever need to upkeep the car inside and out. My car looks better than the day i saw it on the lot lol. Plus depending on where you're at, he'll come out to you which is a plus.

Yeah James just got back to me. The price he quoted seems good if it includes wash, clay, polish, etc etc. It also includes wheels which is nice. I'm debating doing it myself which would probably cost ~140$ since I don't have any materials and a few hours and chances are it won't be as good as if he did it.

You probably want to have your day clear. Car gets cleaned, paint correction if needed/ polishing, and then the opticoat gets applied. You gotta park it inside a garage if possible to let the opticoat settle without the possibilty of anything drying with it. For me it was a few hours for the work on the car and i left the car sit for the rest of the day.

James did my car last week. Great guy. Highly recommended. He charged me $400 to wash, paint correct, and opticoat the car. He told me I can tell fellow ft86'ers the price I got, so you can get the best price possible. Good luck!

just gave James a call and made an appointment for next week... he mentioned ft86club as soon as i told him that i was interested in getting my car opticoated...

i don't own an frs/brz, but he hooked me up with the same deal since my car is still relatively new

Although I haven't had a chance to get my BRZ opti coated, I do have an appointment with them on the Feb 5th for it.

They also worked on my G35 with full detail. Great people and they provide excellent service.

Here is a picture of my G35 to demonstrate their work.

Thanks for the responses and PMs guys. I ended up going to Mike for the job and I must say I am extremely happy with the job. He made the car look better than brand new and the price was reasonable. If anyone is in SoCal I definitely recommend him for the job. He is very meticulous with his work and spent 5 hours on my car and it was only a month old to ensure perfection before the opti-coat.

On that note I would recommend Opti-Coat for everyone's car. Its pretty awesome to show off dropping water on one car and seeing the water streak down then putting water on your opti-coated car and watching the water just fall off and bead up (it stays in droplet form since the water isn't sticking the the car).

sorry if i missed something, Mike is from where? sunset detailing? I only read the name James mentioned. I am too in SoCal and interested in a detail soon.
Also where did you guys get your 3M clear bras installed? thinking of doing the front facia and hood.

Sunset detailing is separate. I believe they are a mobile detailer company so they come to you. I can't give any input on them as I didn't use them.

Mike is just a guy who works in his garage in Lakewood. For me I trust forum members reviews over yelp so thats why I went with this route even though it was about the same price. After working with him I have a high opinion of his detialing ability though; he is a chill guy to talk to and his arsenal of detailing equipment and solutions is ridiculously impressive.

Either way I'm sure both are professional and would make your car awesome.

I just picked up my SWP BRZ from James's place in OC. Price was reasonable, compared to what I have been reading here in the forums. Job was pretty good I'd say, didn't have much light to really inspect it. Will be doing that here shortly, but I'm sure I'll find something wrong, I'm just too picky. But overall great guy. Price was good. Just call him up if you need something done and your around the OC area.

Saw this thread and contacted James to opticoat my FR-S. He did an amazing job detailing and opticoating my car, and he's a great guy to talk to-a real car enthusiast. Highly recommended if you're in SoCal!
