There will always be the next one. I was wondering if you had installed the Vortech or not. Other than the P&L car you might be the only FI in chicago.

There will be an FR-S with a Full Blown kit shortly but I'm not at liberty to disclose any more than that.

Hey DJ, are you going to try an E85 tune with your Vortech?

I was thinking about it, but I ended up just getting the stage 1 kit for reliability... don't want any more stress on the clutch or other driveline components

What other drive components would you expect to need to swap out besides the clutch to go with a stage 2 E85 setup?

I don't own a 86 yet but wondering how realistic certain things are, seeing those 340whp+ are pretty awesome.

It think that would be of the last upgrades to do(I mostly want to buy the car to track).

It's starting to look like to me the following would be best way to push for upgrades.

1.) Simple bolt on improvements such as things from whiteline.
2.) Rims and Tires.
3.) Bolt on suspension improvements.
4.) Exhaust header back.
5.) Rear functional wing(I expect at this point going to 6 quickly would be a good idea as the Wing with all the other updates will likely cause the car to understeer)
6.) Adjustable Struts/shocks (balanced)
7.) E85 Tune
8.) FI likely Supercharged and updates to drive train to handle it such as clutch etc.

I know thats a fair chunk of change there but it seems like a logical path to go to grow in skill without over doing it too fast. I guess anyone could chime in here and I know I could post this else where but it seems like I can provoke better conversation with people who are local and and some point get a chance to talk about it in person.

Im not from Chi Town but I do have an FI BRZ so I may can help with some of your questions. Mine is putting down around 300 whp @ 7 lbs with a precision 5558 turbo and Visconti tune on 93 pump. I am considering going to an E85 setup soon but with a lack of stations its a tough one. At some point we will push the limits on the FA20 with internals and more boost but we are still learning about it. However to add one more upgrade to the list that wasnt mentioned but should probably come first if you plan to track the car is to upgrade the brakes. The stock brakes work well enough for normal driving, but if you are going to be switching from a track to daily driver status at all, then I would upgrade the brakes. The next would be tires and wheels. Its a huge difference. Ive never tracked mine but I did go to the tail of the dragon with a group of FRS owners and the stock tires did not hold very well and the speeds werent even that great.
As for my personal car, I have, as stated before a turbo kit, BC racing coilovers, 18 inch XXR 527s with wider tires, and a 4 point cage. The clutch has held up just fine and the power you will make with a SC will not even get close to pushing the limits of the stock rear end or tranny.
Hope this helps man.

The vortech kit dynos with 175 peak ft-lb of torque to the wheels, and a spec stage 1 clutch is rated to 198 ft-lb. Not sure what the factory rating is, but I would rather play it safe as far as longevity goes as this is my DD

The brakes are a huge thing agreed. I have not really put it on the list yet because of not really understanding where best to put it. Are you talking just pads and rotors? I would likely want to replace the lines and the calipers as well all the way around and go with some kind of big break kit. I don't have any real experience but upgrades to the brake system seem to be crazy expensive when compared to everything else.

Yeah they are definitely a pricey upgrade, and you can do it in stages but its probably best to just buy a big brake kit. You would be good if you just replaced the rotors, pads, and calipers on the front, along with stainless steel lines. Stop Tech is a good and less expensive brand to look at. Or if you are able to find a good deal on some Brembos from an 04 STi. However, people are generally proud of the Brembo name and for just a few hundred more you can get a brand new kit. My list would be this.

1. Wheels and Tires
2. Coilovers
3. Brakes
4. BOOOST!!
