I do not believe so, many systems that have a delay valve (AP2 S2000 for example) have it located in the slave cylinder. Removing this is a common mod in the S2000 community. However, in this car it is located in the clutch master itself making it nearly impossible to remove. Possibly a company will in time, offer a replacement sans delay valve or offer some sort of exchange delete service but such a thing is pure speculation.

Its not a good idea to remove a clutch delay valve, its designed to be a safeguard against improper clutch engagement which can damage your driveline. Many novice drivers will attempt to engage a clutch as fast as they possible can at the highest rpm they can, however, this is not a race clutch, its a street clutch, and it has a proper speed of engagement. Failure to engage the clutch at the proper speed can result in premature direline wear and shift-shock.
The device will also aid in preventing the chassis from being upset unintentionally during shifting. Alternately, this makes it easier to perform drift maneuvers or intentionally upsetting the chassis, without damaging your drivetrain components and ensuring proper clutch engagement.

Removing the valve will not make you faster, or magically turn you into Takumi. It will preserve your drivetrain.

I normally wait a second after releasing the gas and pressing the clutch pedal, it seems to go away. MontrealFRS went to the dealer and they said its normal...

Anyone who has ever owned a new car knows that line from the dealer is straight out of the textbook titled: "we don't know what's wrong". $1000 says they couldn't explain exactly what causes the sound...but they just "know" it's normal.

I got this one time a few weeks ago and wasn't sure if I was just crazy or not. Could never get it to happen again. Hard shifts, slow shifts, whatever. Weird.

As much as I love the car it is getting frustrating to always be going back the the dealership to get it fixed. They showed the world the car in 2009 that gives them 3 years to have these things figured out kinda disappointed that it is having so many problems. I saw an add today about the lemon law with a picture of the FR-S on it...

Thread revival...I just noticed this squeaking while shifting out of first gear today when driving around. I have about 350 miles on my FR-S and I bought it three days ago...taking it to the dealership probably Tuesday evening to get them to check it out.

Hi,

I am not sure if its the same sound. I previously posted a new thread regarding clutch pedal sound, which sounds springy (lack of lube) and feels resistive when the clutch pedal is stepped on. You can replicate the sound towards the end of the clutch pedal stroke.

Opened the engine hood and sounds becomes clearer. Brought it to the dealer and turns out its lack of lubrication from the clutch pedal fork in the engine bay, at least thats what they told me. You can see this part move in the engine bay. Anyway, clutch pedal is smooth now and no more sound.

Sound started around 20,000km so I guess thats something that requires periodic monitoring.

Cheers
