The GT86 DRLs remain on when HIDs are turned on.
That ring is a ballast and it turns on a notch before the low/high beams

The series 10 FRS is my13 but the series 10 Tc is a my14, like he mentioned.

I just had the most interesting online chat with a Scion customer service rep. I wanted to know where the "solar illuminated shift knob" disappeared to. I got a surly response. Here is the chat:

system : agent will be with you shortly ...
Alice : Welcome to Scion Chat, how can I help you today?
BrentB : Hi Alice. I was just speaking with John but the chat froze...
Alice : Sorry about that! How can I help you?
BrentB : I am wondering why the solar illuminated shift knob has been deleted from the list of features for the 10 Series FRS?
BrentB : When I placed my order and made a deposit for the car, that was one of the items listed as being part of the 10 Series...
BrentB : ...now that I am checking the website-- I see that it has been deleted: no picture, no mention of it
Alice : Market trends are closely studied to give us a better idea of what vehicles and options are in demand. Our Product Planning department is able to choose those vehicles and options that best suit the needs of the buying public.
BrentB : That doesn't really answer my question though...
Alice : It is likely that it is not longer being offered as a feature.
BrentB : So... how will buyers be compensated for this? I mean... you advertise a list of special features, people buy the car...
BrentB : ...then the special features disappear???
Alice : The website disclaimer does state that Scion is permitted to change any vehicle specifications and other information available on the Site at any time without notice to you.
BrentB : Checking your quasi "legal disclaimer mumbo jumbo" is not a prerequisite for buying a car. It is shady to advertise features to people, collect their money, then not deliver those features--the whole time citing that "you are allowed to do it because you put a blurb about it on your website." The dealer that sold me the car did not "disclose" this information.
Alice : You would need to address that with your dealer, then.
BrentB : Thanks SO MUCH Alice. Super helpful. Stay sweet.

What the hell was with that crap about "market trends" blah blah blah. (???)

What's strange is that scion Canada never had the glowing knob advertised I don't think. It had something to do with it being illegal since manual knobs from the factory should have engraved gear positions. The scion reps on the site are useless though.

Looks light a bright silver pearl-type paint.

Hey, nub here. I've been lurking on these forums for the past few weeks reading about whether or not I should get an FRS. Saw the series 10 and thought, that looks great and comes with the push to start etc etc. As others have mentioned, many dealers I've spoken to in Cali don't have a clue. One said he'd find out when one is allocated to them but from what I've read some of you have managed to pre-order. Is this something I need to actually head into a dealer, tell them to pre-order one and drop some cash down?

I am a novice in regards to auto buying in general and don't want to get hosed or suckered in. If it helps at all, i'm in the sac area of california. So if anyone happens to know a dealer that could help me in this department that'd be very much appreciated.

Yeah, I've seen light blue, grey (night shots), dark/light silver, and almost white from
the different shots of the 10 series.

This indoor shot is nice: http://www.scion.com/blog/wp-content...4/IMG_5157.jpg

Looks like the LED's have a hint of green.

Elsewhere on the Canadian website it states that "Scion is releasing a series of five exclusive release series vehicles, showcasing everything that makes Scion, Scion. Looking sleek in the new exclusive Silver Ignition colour with blue highlights, each Scion 10 Release Series vehicle features unique finishings like silver seatbelts and a sporty shift knob. And every Release Series edition sports a unique serial badge number and Scion 10 Logo. These vehicles were produced in a very exclusive production run to celebrate Scion’s 10th year in North America, so quantities are very limited. Submit an order request here to claim yours before they’re gone."

Hey! This is the first car I will buy on my own as well. What people say when the say pre-order (at least what I did) is put a deposit down to reserve the car for your own. Most often this consists of "buying" your licence plate (around 500$) and stating that you want the 10 series. Most of the scion dealers in the US will recieve only one ten series so you would have to "shop" scion dealers searching for one that has not separated the car for another buyer. Big volume scion dealers may recieve more than one so all you have to do is ask. Ask then if they are recieveng one, and if they are has anybody put down a deposit on it already. If not then go ahead and tell the u would like to reserve that car for yourself and would like to make that deposit. If you change your mind it is fully refundable.

Wouldn't hurt to place a refundable deposit. If you want a 6M/T, I've read here that about 700 are being imported for about 1,850 dealers. Pricing is fixed, what Scion calls Pure Pricing, no side stickers allowed and since you're pre-ordering you get to spec only the accessories you want before the dealer gets their hands on it.

Where you will be hosed is your awful state TT&L taxes and fees but you can roll those into a loan if you go that way. At least rates are low right now and dealers are usually very rate competitive. Just don't tell them what monthly payment you can afford, they'll then stretch the term to fit. Always work from a net bottom line including finance charges. If you do finance lock it in soon, say before month end, in case they adjust upward next month. Banks and credit unions will lock your rate and keep your approval active for at least 30 days.

Thanks for the responses, I've gotten approved from PenFed for a loan at 1.79% I went with a 5 year rate, i figured I could pay it off sooner and plan to, it's just nice to have minimum payments to be low in the event of a worst case scenario. So, it looks like I just need to keep calling dealers over the next few days and see if they've been allocated one.

The first Series 10 allocation will be June 1st. Honestly, I wouldn't wait. Pick the biggest metro dealership and leave with contract signed by a manager. I could be wrong and these things will bomb, but doubt it.
