I routinely have my 2 daughters in the back seat, one in a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Diono-RadianR100-Convertible-Seat-Stone/dp/B005MQR794/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369057989&sr=8-1&keywords=diono+r100"]diono R100[/ame] (3 yr old) behind me and the other in an older version of the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Graco-Highback-TurboBooster-Car-Seat/dp/B004XIBT4Q/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1369058020&sr=1-2&keywords=graco+highback+turbobooster+car+seat"]graco highback turbo booste[/ame]r (5 yr old) behind the passenger seat. The kids are relatively comfortable because my wife and I are on the shorter side (5' 6" and 5' 4"). We do need to enforce the "shoes off" rule though to keep the seat backs clean even though we have [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-23205-Backseat-Organizer-Black/dp/B003XMWFBE/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1369058067&sr=1-2&keywords=munchkin+seat"]munchkin back seat organizers[/ame] on both sides. One additional benefit of our smaller stature coupled with the cramped quarters is that I can reach back/turn around and buckle both kids without too much strain.

Does anyone have any feedback on which front facing child seat provides the most legroom? I mean, has the thinnest seatback?
My little 2 year daughter likes to stretch out her legs. I'd like to find a car seat with a thinner back than what I have right now (Graco nautilus 3 in 1, harness/back booster/booster) so mommy can scoot her seat back more. TIA |

I think the Diono Radian/Sunshine Kids folding convertible is probably one of the best choices out there. It'll be tough to find information on which is the thinest but given that is one of the few on the market that are designed to fold I'd imagine it to be one of the smallest.
I'm trying to decide between that and the OoBr Clek http://carseatblog.com/8697/the-newe...ooster-review/ which I think is one of the best looking kids seats out there. My only probably is my kids are too young to use it still be a few pounds. Diono = compact, foldable, great for planes, ugly Oobr = best looking, great mechanical design, super safe |

No problems fitting car seats in the back of mine; in fact here's a photo of one of them in the BRZ the regional sales guy brought to the dealership back in April of last year. I had this behind the driver seat and a backless booster behind the passenger seat. Worked fine although I did need to move the seat farther forward when my daughter was in the harness seat.
I recently moved my son (8 years old) to the front seat and my daughter (4) into a booster w/back behind the passenger seat and that works great. Both enjoy riding in the car very much! One time I did have my wife in the passenger seat and my son without a child seat sitting behind me and it worked well; his feet tucked nicely below my seat so I only needed to lose a notch or two on the seat rails. The booster is a basic Simpson Racing one (just a basic cheapie with Simpson licensing.)

Thanks for the replies. You got me to go check the back of my child seat. It turns out, I had it on the most reclined position in front and the back of the car seat isn't flush against the car's seat back. I unreclined it and pushed it all the way back. Now it looks like your car seats whereas before the bottom was sticking out from the seat bottom. I think mommy just gained 3 inches of legroom. that's a lot.

+1 on this Recaro seat. I have my 6 year old in this now in my 328 sedan, however. But if this seat fits in the FR-S then you can't go wrong. This is such a comfortable and solid, and heavy seat. The safety rating for this must be top of the charts.
The seat converts to a booster when the child grows large enough. The harness straps are removable and the seat converts to a booster. The head rest supports raise up higher. There are 5 positions higher than the position pictured here. |

Here's another interesting option I can across... soft back so the kid isn't pushed forward. Might help in the leg room area for kids, since their backs would be closer to the back seat.
