What's on your test drive list?

What's on your list besides the twins, and why? Here's mine, roughly in order of preference:
  1. 2014 GTI: no understeer or torque steer, great refinement, rave early reviews
  2. 2014 BMW 228i- very promising but it would have to absolutely kill for me to fork out that premium
  3. Focus ST: great reviews, supposed to be a riot to drive
  4. Fiesta ST: light, agile, nice power to weight, good value
  5. 2015 Mustang - if it's lighter and smaller

When I first became aware of the Twins back in '09 I was driving a Miata. The only other cars I considered besides the FR-S was the BRZ, another Miata and by a little stretching perhaps a Cayman. When I drove the FR-S all the others were dismissed. Presently the only thing I am considering is a newer FR-S if by some miracle they made some changes I'd like to see but I also realize those changes would not likely be a reality.

I'll reserve judgement on this, as the North American models will be built in Mexico. :/

Test drive as in "seriously considering buying" not "car wanker fantasy land"... This question is intended for people who haven't got a Toyobaru yet.

Not buying 95% of this - these cars are nearly all 2-3 times the price of the twins and more. Who the hell seriously cross-shops an FR-S with a Cayman S? You got the money to cover the upkeep, the insurance etc. you buy the Cayman, case closed. The FR-S while fun is a crude under-powered toy by comparison.

You said test drive list, not seriously consider buying list.

Not such a huge leap. I can afford any of this cars, but still chose the BRZ. Just because you have the money doesn't always mean you can't see a great value when it's there (I.e. the twins).
