Moral of the story - Getting a good paying job, especially compared to what people owe in student loans, well it's much easier said than done. And a few grand difference in this car could be the difference between living somewhat comfortably or starting to scrape by. Edit - I don't want this to come off like I'm irresponsible with money and would put myself in financial ruin by getting this car, but this car is my present to myself for being in college for 6 years in a row and damnit, I want climate control! |

And hids make you see better when you drive at night. The only reason they are not standard on the frs is because they want to hit the low base price. I am all for them trying to do that. Basically what the frs is right now is a low-spec based toyota 86 with the white tach and a radio. You also don't need tilt and telescoping steering wheel but it's there thank you scion! Just because some of us want these options does not mean scion won't offer it. |

HID's are not a gizmo, anybody who lives or drives outside a city that has used quality HID's will tell you they are a performance option. I live in a small town, there are lots of dark empty roads at night, thats when I like the drive for fun. HID's make this better and safer.

I tell you something thought.... if you do live in the city I totally hate that bastard with the HID chilling behind my car god it's fricken bright! akjdksahdkjhasdhj. Totally agree with the being out of the city and needing HIDs, my parents live out in the country are and they have no streetlights, I really like having HIDs as for LED eh...they look good without it, they look good with it. I wouldn't mind either or.

Notice this image shows the "factory" headunit. If you compare the depth of the face of the head unit and its buttons/dials to the dash surround you can see that in some places it is nearly flush with the surface of the dash. Not everywhere, just on the rotary dial, and the top of the headunit near the CD slot. At the bottom of the image you see "Prototype shown with optional equipment. Production model may vary." This is in no way indicative of the stereo being non standard... however, when you compare the above image to the silver test drive car... You see what some people are calling a stereo cover. I say, based off of the fit and finish of the panel, combined with the comparative depth of it's surface to the dash, and the stereo's surface to the dash, that this is NOT a stereo cover (not to mention if you look at the top pic, there is no space for the "cover" to recess into). This is a filler panel, which appears production ready, for the FR-S without a stereo. It's surface is shallower in places than the Scion headunit. Now to be fair, neither vehicle has been stated to be 100% production, but, I for one believe that the headunit will be a dealer installed accessory. EDIT: the upper picture was taken from http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2525 ). I hope they keep as much equipment out of this car as possible in effort to offer a low low price point, with the bits that people are whining about not having (leather, seat warmers, fogs, HIDs, big brakes, headunit, slurpee machines, etc) as dealer installed accessories. That's where Scion makes their $$$ anyways.

it seems smaller due to the altered center console of the FRS
those dials are giant compared to the 86/BRZ |
