Hi Ken, Thank you for your reply. If memory serves me correctly, last time I was at M&M's, I saw your car as it entered the parking lot and parked among the rest of the Twins. (She's an eye catcher) If you guys see a lowered white Cobalt SS Turbo with black rims enter the parking lot and park close by...that would be me. If the weather cooperates, I will most likely be stopping by tonight. I am so used to buying parts for a GM that I am not 100% certain where or who would be a respected and/or reliable merchant to purchase for imports from. I have heard of many people whom buy their wheels and tires out of the U.S and have them shipped to Ogdansburg, picking them up there. Huge cash savings in doing so from my understanding. Anyhow, if I do show up this evening, I look forward to chatting further with you and the rest of the gang. |

Was there a black FR-S beside you? Or was that Geoff's BRZ?
I saw your cars and tried to find you guys between sessions as well. It's becoming quite a popular choice. My new combo worked very well, tires were great in the wet morning session. Hope you guys had fun! |

My best time on stocks all last year was a 2:34 in perfect conditions and driving at 10/10ths. (some of the trackdays, I was closer to 2:37's) I got down to a 2:33 (theoretical 2:32 based on my best sector times) but it was very cold and I think most everyone was quite slower than their typical times (3-6 secs depending on the car/driver). I was also driving to 9/10ths learning the limits of the tires and playing a bit with their pressures. Tires (Conti Extreme Contact DW) are fantastic in the wet, great in the dry with very predictable breakaway. The wider tires didn't hurt either. The Eibach ProKit springs made a huge difference to the balance of the car, it is sooooo nice now with perfect balance (for me at least). Very good grip out of corners now with the softer rear springs (no more corner-exit drifting). One thing I learned that was pretty surprised about was that it appears I have too much camber. I am running -2.2 all around, measured tire temps and the inside of the tire was much hotter than the outside, indicating too much camber. Typically this would not be that much camber, but with the stiffer springs and our car with such a low centre of gravity, there is not much lean, so less camber is needed than your typical car at the track. |

The ride with the ProKit is great, very subtle change on the street. I would say that it doesn't feel too much stiffer, it just feels a bit more precise. On the track it is much more pronounced. It feels much flatter through the corners, very little understeer on initial turn-in, and on corner exit it stays much more planted. To me it is perfectly balanced and very easy to balance the car in corners using the throttle Camber is adjusted a few ways: The lowering springs will gain you extra camber, also using camber bolts up front, and of course minor adjustments through alignment. Rear camber can't be adjusted without adjustable control arms, so I have what I have. My settings are: Front L -2.2 R -2.2 Rear L -1.7 R -2.2 Last edited by Slick; 06-04-2014 at 10:52 AM. |
