I like how you guys are trying to get below 2600 pounds in the FRS...How low can you go?

I used to own a 1994 NSX; I removed the spare, jack, engine cover, stereo system, speakers [14lbs for each of the door speakers and 12 lbs for the one from the passenger footwell!!], replaced the battery with an Odyssey [16 lbs] and on days when I felt like it, I even removed the passenger seat [50lbs]....for a total of about 110 lbs. So that the curb weight was just about 3000 lbs.

You have to remember one thing. In a car that is already light, removing every lb has a much greater percentage decrease in weight than in a car that is heavy. That is why the FRS, which is already very light, any few lbs of weight decrease will make a very significant change in acceleration, braking and turning. Top speed is not affected much if any.

I loved that NSX and should have never sold it. It was a much more fun driver than the GTR. That is why I am so excited about the FRS. It should be a FUN car.

You could save more weight by replacing the factory seats with some aftermarket recaros. Maybe 15-20lbs per seat?

As an aside I do NOT like the way those headrests cant forward so much. Is that going to be an issue when you're wearing a helmet?

The headrests are adjustable and a few reviews said they don't jut into your head.

Alright I hope so, b/c I have a big head!

I don't know why all these headrest designs of late have the headrest pointed so far forward. If people are too stupid to properly adjust the headrest themselves then if they suffer any soft of head injury as a result they're probably not losing too much computing capacity

Actually I had a white 1994 Supra TT !!
That thing was a straight line machine. I got more tickets in that car than all others put together. Sometimes the cops would stop me for any excuse in the world, like you need to put front license plates on or just to check my license and insurance and crap like that.

The Manual FRS gear stick looks almost identical to the Supra's where you had to lift the ring to put the car in reverse.

I am going to have to dig up some pictures of the Supra, it was a while ago.

I am a Japanese sports car junkie. Other than the RX7, I have had all the Japanese sports car including the Miata and the Honda S2000.

The Miata and the S2000 have the best manuals in the business by far. The S2000 is great for track but on the every day drive it seriously needs more low end torque [hell needs more torque period]. I used to feel guilty beating the engine mercilessly to get much acceleration.

If the FRS is anywhere near as much fun to drive as a Miata, it is an ABSOLUTE winner because it has the advantage of being a tight proper coupe, with two additional seats and more power.

By all accounts it will be at least as much fun as the Miata. We are lucky.

Holy hell! 14 pounds speakers? that's ridiculous. If speaker technology hasn't advanced any since the NSX that's 112 lbs we can cut out of the FR-S right there!

I know! Considering all the money spent on making the NSX all aluminum to decrease weight and then to put these ridiculously heavy speakers sounds and was preposterous! I hardly ever listened to the stereo anyway, what with the glorious engine singing right behind you
