This makes sense. If I were to receive the parts today, how am I supposed to know if the parts are for the original TSB or the revised TSB.

Anyone here with a recently delivered car that's chirping already and a VIN after the TSB cut-off of x607798?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is a fix, I just think there is no viable data to claim otherwise as of yet.
my VIN is about 400 cars after the cut off. a feb 13 production date. was chirping w/ in a couple days of its May 1st pick up date.

Believe what you want, keep having the dealer take your car apart and you'll still have the noise. Find non-ethanol fuel and your noise will go away....regardless of how many pumps you have installed.
Don't you think I'd be the first one to claim these parts fix the problem....I'm at the dealer everyday...but they don't.

Good luck.
Yeah, sure, because everyone has easy access to ethanol-free fuel.

It would take me an entire tank of gas to get to an ethanol free gas station and then I'd use up another full tank of gas to get back home, therefore your argument is invalid.

Just left the dealership. Naturally they do not have the parts. Going back next week. So far what I've read it looks like its going to be a moot point. I will be on the hunt for ethanol free gas.

For some reason, it doesn't bother me as much as it should. There are days that I don't mind at all, and there will be days that it bugs the sh*t out of me.

I was wrong, and I'll admit it.

Spoke to one of the engineers today regarding the chirping issue and can't disclose all of our discussion but he did confirm that the pump WAS revised in February. For reasons he couldn't divulge the part number has strangely remained the same. However, the revised parts will have a green dot next to the part number on the box, that is the only way you can tell the difference between the old part and the revised part.

So get your chirping cars to the dealer to have this revised TSB completed. Parts for mine are on order...again.

Sorry for the mis-information, but this is highly unusual for Subaru to keep the same part number for a revised part, and the lack of information to dealers in the TSB. I'm now calling the customers that had their pumps replaced with the old part to get them back in for the revised part.

Sorry but I don't know what Scion might be doing regarding this.

I wish service managers in my dealership were this proactive. Thanks for info.

However this has me worried:

Thanks--chances are they released the revised pump for the Scion line as well. I'll probably get this scheduled when I get my next oil change.

@Opie, did they actually say to bring it in for replacement due to the noise? I was told even with the new part, Subaru wouldn't allow replacement for anything less than mechanical failure.

My car is ready for pick up today. Since I drive 100 miles a day, I think I'll know pretty soon whether or not I got the newest pump revision or not...

A strange thing also happened when I went to drop off the car yesterday: the parts guy was unpacking the box of parts for my car and held up an intake manifold gasket. Kinda weird...

I believe the intake manifold has to be removed to get access to the pump.

As per the TSB it should get changed just because it is chirping.

Not if you have a good tech!
