Has anyone tried Mr. Tint or Quality Glass on el camino in san jose? Am considering 3M or Expel.
For that matter, any thoughts on Expel? It quite a bit more money. Having a white BRZ makes me worry a lot about discoloration. Although I'm being told 3M is good for at least 5yrs without discoloration if properly cared for. |

They will all discolor, but its just a matter of time. My ventureshield lasted a good 4 years before it started looking a little worn down. Expel is suppose to last longer, but also more expensive. I have more dings and marks from road abuse that I notice more than the discoloration. Just something to keep in mind.

I recommend AutoProFilms in Belmont. http://www.yelp.com/biz/autoprofilms-clear-bra-belmont
Couldn't ask for a better experience. Great prices, great work, super nice guy. Did my tint and clear bra and it's hard to tell its there unless you really look for it (which is what you want out of a clear bra). I go on drives often, so anyone who's interested just come out to a drive and you can check out his work.

So....if one were to try to balance between cost, appearances (seams) and utility... How much of the car should one cover to get the best "bang for the buck"?

I did the entire front bumper. On my past 2 cars I had additional pieces on the front part of the hood, on the side mirrors, part of the fenders etc.
This time around I decided I didn't want to see the line running across the car hood and fenders like on my other cars. Covering the whole hood or fender to avoid this look is major $$$. So I just did bumper and on this car (BRZ) it seems to work out well, most of the frontal area exposed to rocks is the front bumper area and I am happy, the bra is doing its job there well.

Anyone try HD Auto Salon? a bit pricey but they've done some really nice cars....and the cost difference between the Expel and 3M is about $200....still. @_@ gets pricey.

There are temporary paint protection solutions like TrackArmour. Great for track events or road trips. Easy on easy off.

holy old thread revival Batman.
That trackarmour looks like a neat idea for a temporary solution. But I think most of us want something more permanent if we're going to protect our bumpers. By the way, I did follow my own advice when I picked up the 2016 BRZ to replace the 2013. I went to Premier this time and got the front bumper and headlights done, very happy with how it turned out.
