Reminder!!!!

This Sunday is the Season Opener for Detroit SCCA autocross season at the Silverdome in Pontiac.

Flyer:
http://detroit-scca.org/e107/e107_fi...pener_solo.pdf
Registration Link:
https://www.motorsportreg.com/index....5#.UXk8S8qfzXx

I will be there with my co-driver with my still completely factory spec BRZ on prius tires. Looks like there are also 2 other BRZ/FR-S registered in RTR as well and a healthy 20 cars overall in RTR. Should be a fun day to come out and drive your car in anger!

Pre-registration closes at midnight on Friday, walk ups are still welcome but it's a bit more expensive.

There's a strong possibility that i'll be there. I just need to clear it with the wife. I guess I need an SCCA membership as well?

The scca sells weekend memberships for about $10 the annual is $45 so if you are just looking to give it a try than get the weekend membership most scca chapters will apply your weekend membership to the annual membership if you decide to join. So either way a weekend membership is not money wasted.

Just to clarify, if you have never been a SCCA member, you qualify for a first year discounted rate of $45. All subsequent years are $65 + local membership dues. IIRC, detroit is an additional $15, as is NWOR.

I'll be there but probably not racing my BRZ. My car is going in on Monday to get the injectors looked at.

I'll definitely be participating in the memorial day autox.

Just another fairly local region.

NWOR - North West Ohio Region... Toledo Express Airport is a phenominal site, I highly recommend you guys try it.

SVR - Saginaw Valley Region, obviously saginaw area

WMR - Western Michigan Region

OVR - Ohio Valley Region

These are the closest SCCA regions for us in the greater detroit area.

West side represent.

I am based in Battle Creek.

Yeah, it is lonely on this side. Everyone I know is in or around Detroit.

I know people who won't touch cars that have had previous engine mods because they can't trust it was done right or how beat up the engine is, even if they pull the mods off.

About the Cayman, I just love the body style and I love the feel of driving one and it is a more complete car then the twins. They are a little bit spartan, where if you spend a little more you get legendary Porsche quality. I am a sucker for Porsche and I will talk myself into a Cayman before too long!

Also I am not against modding engines but there are things to consider.
You seem to be pretty set on the Cayman Mac. Just avoid the pre-2009 ones (IMS) and also, I believe LSD was offered on the Cayman S only after the 2009 refresh. Anyway, if you can get a hold of Grassroots Motorsports April issue, they have a detailed look at used Boxster ownership (watch outs and recommendations) which should translate well to Caymans. I can scan the article for you if you can't find it.

Yeah I have started poking around the Porsche forums and they are telling me that the Cayman doesn't suffer from the IMS issues that the other cars do. Looking into it. Like I said I have always liked Porsche (like the body design) and I loved the car. I still got stuff to buy on the FRS before I am done.
