The AEM Failsafe has a wire that can either provide a ground signal or a 12V signal when a certain AFR/Boost condition is met. That signal can be used to do quite a few things including telling a boost solenoid to return to wastegate psi working or to tell an electronic boost controller to return to wastegate psi or to power a big red shift light that says DANGER WILL ROBINSON. I don't know how you would put that signal into the ECU for EcuTek to utilize it though.
EcuTek apparantly has options to control an external boost solenoid similar to OEM Subaru turbo setups, but I haven't seen anything on this other than the few bits Visconti has posted.

I'm experimenting with an AVO Electronic boost controller right now, I've had many different kinds. This one has a very nice install with only 2 wires to actually cut and solder, everything else has a harness. I may or may not end up using Ecutek boost control, my EBC does have a boost cut you can set that cuts the wastegate reference so I'm thinking that coupled with the AEM Failsafe should be double safe in theory, I guess we'll see in reality.

I dont want to see this thread get side tracked but there is absolutely nothing wrong with omni's upgraded map sensors PERIOD! Any tuner that says omni has problems, well they're wrong.. they just dont know how to calibrate the sensor correctly !
There are 2 advantage's of running a upgraded map sensor. 1. Both you and the tuner able to see how much boost you running in the datalogs 2. Overboost protection Aftermarket failsafes work but do not offer the protection a overboost setting in the ecu would. If the wastegate it hooked up the wrong way or lines melt there so way for the aftermarket failsafe to remove boost. ECU Controlled overboost protection can close the throttle body and cut fuel injectors. FRS300 wouldn't have a blown motor right now if he had this type of protection in his tune. Anyone running forced induction should have this type of protection in their car. It's saved at least 6 motors this year. -John |

You can't guarantee that if he was just leaning out due to the fuel pump not flowing correctly. Overboost is just one way to blow a motor.

I think that's the heart of the issue with the aftermarket industry as well as tuning specifically. How do you know who to trust? Well respected vendors and tuners will have differing and often conflicting accounts of the proper way to do something, with each side having hordes of loyal fans. Makes it difficult to get a straight answer. You can pick anything and anyone in the industry, no matter how respected, and find a hundred people that will state emphatically that the product / person is absolute garbage.

Interesting. Maybe only the premium kits came with it. I know I got one of the first production based basic kits, and mine didn't come with it. I know the two basemaps I got from LJ were setup for the OEM MAP sensor as well. I will have to ask him about it along with seeing how the oil cooler is coming along.
