I figured I would weigh in as I have been testing and going up and back on how to address this for my car.

So what I have learned is the hard core track guys really only have one concern:
Stopping hard, and consistent every corner with no fade. Their first priority regardless of cost is what will get them to that goal.

Now for most of us, who don't live at the track the priorities are much different. We want something that will work on both. And in the world of pads, it's much like tires if you want ultimate grip you don't buy an all season tire.

A cross over pad will work well if you are not at the track much, but will still make noise on the street and will still fade on the track after hard lapping.

Like Mike says you need to decide what type of driving you are doing in reality before you can really decide. But if you go overly aggressive it will annoy you on the street. If you go too conservative it will hurt your track day fun.

@Dezoris, it's like picking a turbocharger. There is no MAGIC compressor that makes huge power and spools early with amazing transient response like a naturally aspirated engine.

There is no pad compound that doesn't have dust/noise on the street and no fade on the track. Hybrid/dual-purpose compounds are a bandaid that can work in both circumstances, but never as good as true street pads on the street and true track pads on the track. You make sacrifices. I'm willing to limit trackability and sacrifice quietness/dust on the street for hybrid compounds since they brake better than stock without being TOO annoying.

That, exactly.
