Mind boggling, although its a ~$100 easy bolt on upgrade so anyone can get it aside from the kit.

It really isn't mind boggling to me. LJ is providing a turbo kit and a basemap for the OEM MAP sensor. Neither requires an upgraded MAP sensor to run. My car was running just fine before I upgraded the MAP sensor, and the only real advantage I have gotten from it so far is being able to log accurate boost in EcuTek which I was able to do previously with my AEM Failsafe gauge.

With that being said, I would recommend buying one, and it wouldn't surprise me if LJ includes it in future kits. Just remember that you have to run a modified tune specificially for the new MAP sensor so it isn't just a bolt on affair.

Oh yeah definitely, I didn't mean to say it is absolutely necessary or that the kit FBM sells is incomplete. What boggles my mind is that its a simple ~$100 add to the kit, and with it they would be able to provide overboost protection very easily thus giving their awesome product a nice failsafe.

GOOD CALL on it not being a simple bolt on mod as the tune does need to be recalibrated for the new MAP sensor.

If I don't need to plot boost with the EcuTek cable would you recommend just going with aem failsafe and any EBCS to keep it safe?

What's interesting is that when I brought this up to my tuner, he advised emphatically to take it back and strongly advised against using the omni 4 bar map sensor. He's done some tuning for Crawford and been working on tuning the innovative SC and stated that the map sensor introduces significantly more problems than it helps alleviate, particularly at higher power levels.

Now that is very interesting. I am running the Omni 4 bar MAP sensor right now. I just told John that is what I switched to and he sent me a new MAP for it and off I went. I don't see how a MAP sensor could create problems unless they are changing from a MAF tune to a speed density tune using the MAP sensor.

He mentioned something about the Omni being trash compared to the stock MAP sensor and the boost cuts interfering with regular wastegate functionality and being incredibly violent.

So for controlling boost would you do that through ecutek or can that been done with the AEM failsafe?
