I get between 22-24, but I do about 90% city driving. When I am on the freeways I am getting 30-35.

Calculating by hand gives you the most accurate reading. Just reset the odometer after a full fill up, and the next time you fill up, take the odo miles reading and divide by the amount of fuel added. I'm getting around 30.5 avg over the past ~10 fill ups

Im getting almost 30mpg not flooring it all the time.. So ur not alone..
I do understand that it's an entry level sports car and many on here are of the younger generation and enjoying their cars the best way they know how..
Don't take it personal.. Most on here are very knowledgeable and helpful..

Lifetime over 1300 miles reads 31.0 mpg, but I calculate at every fill up and I've been getting between 29 and 30.5 mpg depending on traffic. This last fill up was just after break in, so I drove quite a bit harder and involved a lot of stop and go in hilly areas while apartment hunting. I put 10.56 gallons in this morning and had driven 313 miles.

The average readout is always at least 5% optimistic (usually somewhere between 5% - 10% for me) so you're likely averaging around 34 mpg if you calculate by dividing miles driven by gallons filled.

If I drive like a grandma, I can get 30+ MPG.

But who the hell does that in this car?!?!? I still manage to average 27, hell yea!

I used to have to TRY really hard (i.e., concentrate on driving conservatively) on the hwy to get ~30 MPG... now, with I/H/over/front pipes, I can easily get 32-34 MPG on the hwy, without even having to try that hard.

My average over 10k miles is 30 mpg. I go 1/2 city and 1/2 highway. It's impressive because I used to get 30 mpg with Corolla a decade ago.

If I reset the average mpg display when I get on the freeway I have seen up to 41.3 mpg or so on my commute when traffic is slow and steady (no stop and go). Since the meter is high by about 2 mpg compared to manual calculations I am getting close to 39. I have the automatic and keep it in 6th in manual mode unless it slows below the shift point. I shift up as soon as I can. I figure if I can't go fast I might as well see how good I can get the milage.

My combined milage, city/freeway commute is between 30 and 34 mpg.

While I agree with you completely this method is going under the assumption that the gas pump is putting the correct amount of fuel in your car as what it says.

Gas pumps are supposed to be regulated and calibrated but last year local news in my area did a big feature on this and found that many gas pumps do not put in the actual amount of gas they are displaying. It was discovered that about 75% of the gas pumps in my area were giving you less gas than displayed. Average was about .5 gallons less per 20 gallons but there was a gas station or two that gave a full gallon less per 20 gallons. Another big find in the feature was that the gas station itself (brand or reputation) did not matter. Big brands and well known gas stations were just as likely to rip you off as little ones.
