@P&L Motorsports - Can you give some details on what benefits the ceramic coating provides, and any potential downsides of going uncoated (performance or longevity?)

I'll get a better answer for you Monday, but from what I understand. It helps with heating issues / the header produces less heat leaving the engine bay and other components cooler... which also may attribute to increased performance gains over uncoated. Beyond aesthetic appeal it helps prevent rust, and this also makes it easier to clean if you should feel so inclined.

Didn't mean to say/infer that, just that the coating will prolong the longevity of the header from things like rust/corrosion.
All metal can/will rust eventually. Not for a while as it is top quality Stainless Steel, but just because it is T304 doesn't mean it is 100% corrosion proof. Dylan@P&L |

I think the under panels on the twins and the engine compartment design in general should help minimize or retard any onset of corrosion.
Depending on your climate, location, garaged or not will also play a role. Some of the daily driven ones I've seen look pretty damn clean under the hood after a pretty salty winter here in the Chicagoland area. I only drove mine when it was dry but the amount of salt on the roads was enough to dust your entire car which worried me. I found no real indication of salt dust in the engine bay and my stock header was pretty much clean as a whistle when I installed the header not too long ago. |

Not sure how much the gains or reduced temp inside the bay are....would be a neat comparison.

What's the status on the noise level with the catted header? I commute about an hour each way to work, and I am allergic to drone and rasp lol.

But it IS time for a SC. Some guy in a worked over FIAT ABARTH decided "a chase is a race" today. Yes I got him, but it should have taken a single gear and NOT 4 gears ! ![]() Myles |

FWIW...I had considerable motor movement which previously concerned me. Now that I have complete exhaust on the car, I installed STi BRZ motor mounts and it makes a world of difference. While under the car on the lift with stock mounts if you pull on the motor you can move it about 1/4 inch if you really crank on it. For sure the motor puts more pressure on the mounts than I can.
AFTER the mounts I can not move it at all ! No extra NVH either. ![]() Ok back on topic. Myles |
