Sorry, tried to resist the G card. Current Genesis 2.0 Track or RSpec, and the new 274hp 2.0T is the cat's meow. Again sorry but the damn Hyundai defies all laws of automotive pricing and performance but does a good job at burning your eyes with it's looks and causing numbness to the hands with it's interior design. I'm sure Hyundai is the most hated manufacturer, they're like the Walmart of auto manufacturers. LMAO ![]()

This is very normal where I live in middle east ![]() Every time I talk about this car with my friends they just gags at how stupid, lame, powerless the Japanese cars! Even the gtr is lame in their eyes! Damn, they tell me to have a v8 sports car if I want a real sports car! or at least grow up and buy an suv (damn, people here do love suv so much) I had this love to japanese sports cars since I got my driving permit in 2001, and I always hear people around my talking fun about my miata, impreza, ae86, and now the ft86! If you come here, you hardly see 1 or 2 sports car, but within 1 minute you see thousands of suv's and trucks, heck even kids here drive suv and think they are cool :P For people here in middle east they only car how big your engine is, and how heavy/big your car is. If you drive a small/sports car (like the impreza for example) make sure your flame suit is on (damn I hate the car culture here)

Funny you bring up the Z. I currently have the o6 z33 with the VQ35DER. I love the look and feel of the car but im hesitating because of the power loss. Ya i know that there will be aftermarket parts to get some of that power back and keep the better handling but the Z is what i learned alot in it so im still deliberating...

The price ranges I laid out are from experience. I spent three months researching and looking for the car I have now. I had to give up on other cars that otherwise looked great but had underlying issues found in a pre-purchase inspection. I did not limit my search geographically, either. I live in Baton Rouge, but I actually flew to Chicago to buy this car and drove it down (after it passed a PPI). I used Craigslist, Autotrader, M3Forums, and Bimmerforums to find my car. On reliability, you must never have had your engine fan grenade, sending fan blades into your cooling lines and leaving a line of dings on your hood. I had that happen on my 325i. It's the same fan on the M3. The rear subframe can actually tear out if the car has been abused, and you wouldn't know until it happened. Then there's rear trailing arm bushings and rear shock mounts which should be considered wear items. All old cars have their problems, but this is going to have more problems than a comparable Toyota or Honda. Then there's the question of speed. I autocross my M3, so I know what it's faster than and slower than. It's a blast to drive, but I wouldn't say it's a fast car in a straight line. It really shines in the turns. I never thought I'd enjoy slaloms until I got this car. It also feels at home in a decreasing radius turn. It is, however, useless in a Chicago box. This may just be that I haven't figured out how to hit it just right, but I've had other people drive the car and it definitely shows it's weight in that situation. As for the other cars on the list, I can't vouch for them. All I can do is speak from my experience. The M3 is quick, but it isn't fast. And the engine is not an S50b30. The S50b30 and S50b32 were the rest-of-world engines. The S50US was just a bored and stroked M50b25TU with slightly hotter cams. It was one of the many cost cutting measures BMW NA made given the limited success of the 1994 325is M Sport which was meant to test the waters. That car itself only came as a result of an extensive letter writing campaign by BMWCCA members. I only go on this tangent to show that I know something about these cars. By the way, several of us on Bimmerforums (active member since 2004) are really excited about the BRZ. I've had my M3. I'm ready for something different. For reference to my taste, my car (clears, stamped LTWs, and a drop):

Actually, I could be talked out of it for a reasonable price. Let me sort out a few things (I can't stand selling a car I know needs work). I'll make it known when it is for sale.
Thank you. I actually have a stamped LTW as a full sized spare (with a nicer tire than what the other four run!). I really lucked out on this car. The second owner (I'm the fourth) was/is the owner/founder of Gingerman Raceway up in Michigan. He did a the lions share of getting this car sorted out. |

I went from that to a 97 Altima. It was pretty horrible going from a 300hp sports car to a 150hp sedan These cars weigh quite a bit less than the Z though so you'll be able to have more fun via throwing them around and like you said, there'll be aftermarket parts to add to the fun factor. When the time comes, just do whatever you feel is right |

You guys should see what the Subie elitists over at Nasioc.com think about the BRZ. Everyone saying it's going to flop and it needs to be turbo charged and AWD
The BRZ came in overweight at 2800 lbs instead of 2700 lbs =\ Last edited by Stigmaru; 01-11-2012 at 08:51 PM. |

If the price turns out to be $24k or higher it will be a flop. But if it is $23K, people will start saying " why would anyone by a civic coupe or GTI ?"

I could walk out and buy a brand new 370z for cash right now... but they have terrible interior ergonomics and design, a so-so manual transmission, they are the least reliable car that Nissan makes, they get terrible gas mileage and they are grotesquely overpriced in Canada. Beautiful car though and it's a massive step up from the 350z in almost every way. I HATED the 350z.
Note: I'm a former G35 owner and I've driven many 350/70s. The M6 in the 350z is an absolute shit box, feels like the transmission in a 2010 Genesis Coupe. The 2011 GC transmission and later model year 350zs are a little better but still just awful. |
