That looks pretty small. I can't even tell where that is....

I would just use touch up paint. It's just a car! You and her will live to see another day

sorry to hear it. I have a bigger issue, parked the car, went to grab a coffee, came back, some one took out a chunk of paint of the side bumper, would not have been another car because its off to the side.. almost seems malicious.. anyways, its made the case for me for something like this.. will have to see if there is another thread for this.

i hit a concrete step in a parking lot. my last car (civic) was just high enough to get over the concrete.

I totally get it. It really does suck. At the same time realize that if you just touch it up, YOU will be the ONLY one that can see this.

I had a mustang cobra that a lady backed into. I got the dent fixed by a good friend who is AMAZING at dent removal here in San Diego. I was going to paint the whole bumper from the left over scratch. It was about 4 inches long on the seam. He is literally the best paint/body guy I have ever met. He looks at me and says, "Brian, you're crazy! You're really going to spend $500 to fix this?" It got me thinking. It's a car. I followed his advice and just filled the scratch with paint. It's been 5 years. The current owner and I are still good friend and he has never noticed it.

It's just one of those "things." At the time it happens, it blows! I'll say the same thing to you. You are CRAZY if you want to paint the whole bumper for that. Throw some paint on it and I can pretty much promise you that you will be the only one to see it. It really is a car! Enjoy it! Only alternative is to park it so it stays nice. I love my car and I love driving! It will get flawed and I will have a GREAT time!

Sorry it happened, man. :happy0180:

Build it up with multiple layers of factory touch-up paint, allowing each layer to dry, until just over flush. Carefully sand lightly with ultra-fine wet-or-dry to blend with surrounding area. Add clear coat on top.

Might not disappear completely but will be way less noticable. Have had some close calls myself, just a matter of time before I will have to do the same thing.

It sucks but you can't back in to every space every time...

Yeah but he might as well have hit your paint, since the lower valance is part of the rear bumper (I.e. you will need to replace the entire bumper if you want it repaired).

I agree with blu.... you would have to replace the whole bumper, get it painted or maybe get a diffuser to cover that up, sorry for hearing about your damage, you can maybe even lightly sand and use Meguire's upholstery spray and see if it can make the faded scratches go away.

P.s. try to sand a part of the bumper where you can't see and then use meguires spray and see if that works, I do that every time any plastic or rubber pieces get scratched, works half of the time.

Yeah I was expecting that. From looking through the forums for months I noticed that the diffuser kind of looks like a "wrap"? When taking a close look it looks like they put something onto the bumper to give it that look. Is it possible to something like that?

Overall I'm not too worried since I was able to scrub off most of the "white" from his benz, and from a distance it's not too noticeable.

Guess I'll probably end up switching out my rear bumper when more aftermarket parts are more available for cheaper.

So you got rear ended and didn't stop to grab the offender's insurance information? I would get a new rear bumper out of that guy if I were you.
