Car had been chirping since first month. I was using Shell gas for the first couple months and then mixed in Chevron to see if it helped the chirping, but to no avail. I finally decided to go only with Chevron for the past month and I've noticed the chirping has significantly reduced (to be honest I can't remember the last time I heard it). Hopefully this can continue. I also noticed I get better mileage using chevron compared to shell.

Probably just the AC belt if it's intermittent.

Chirping is consistent at idle (sitting still) and either goes away or is drowned out under load (i.e. while moving).

When I originally responded to the poll no chirp... As of yesterday we have chirp! Dealer going to replace something based on the service bulletin as soon as the part arrives. Dealer said he received the bulletin just last week - Subaru
5250kms, filled with petro can 94 day before the chirps started.(or at least the first time I noticed them)

Those of you not sure... just go through a tim hortons or mcdonalds drive thru once the car is decently warmed up. The walls bounce the sound around abit making it more noticeable.

Just got back from the dealership. I was trying to get my oil changed at 4800 miles and Toyota would not cover it. I told them that the chirping noise was on and off. They said the fuel lump that was replaced on my car was the latest fix from Toyota. It wasn't a different part number but a different marking on the box it came in. I believe it was a blue and red mark, or blue and green. The manager said that they are hand building them. So far so good. Not sure if different gas changed the temperament of the pump.

I got my chirps fixed yesterday. If they come back I will go back to the dealer. I will enjoy the time I have chirp free.

I just had my last free oil change at the Subaru dealer this morning and had them note that the chirping is back. The gal told me that they do have a revised part now, but it will NOT be swapped under warranty for making the noise. Only if something fails and it needs to be replaced to function properly. I did not get confirmation that the new pump won't chirp, though.

My chirp just got much more loud for no apparent reason. Should I wait until there is this supposed fixed pump before contacting service?

I have always used Valero 100% E-Free 91 . Never heard any crickets! at 8500mi. I was caught on empty, had to fill up with E-10 91 (crickets started.) Burned thru that tank and filled back up with E-Free 91 and crickets gone.

My chirps completely stopped. I didn't do anything. I keep buying the same gas from Shell and Chevron, occasionally other stations when I need gas in a hurry. At 9k miles now. I think they basically just stopped on their own around 5-6k miles.

I'm at around 9k. I swear it's getting worse. E10 most of the time. E0 doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference.

hey, had my fuel pump changed out and i thought it was good until yesterday, i went over 1000 km on the new one before the chirps came back. I can't find any 0E around here to try just ultra 94 from petro can. oil change is due in a few more km's so I'll talk to them then. service advisor is going to cry shes been so good this far and really doesn't want to see me again for this issue
