A couple changes:
Right now, I have the catted P&L header, overpipe, catless front pipe, and a dual resonated SRT catback. Believe me when I say the added resonator helps a lot with cabin noise.
Saturday, the SRT will be swapped out for the P&L Motorsports Street Series catback.
I have a Visconti STG1 tune, but it is not yet calibrated for the header.

I don't even know what I'm doing in this thread but...

That sound...

Fantastic.

I have a Stromung exhaust on my auto. With the transmission in manual mode, it sounds just fine. The lockup torque converter means you don't have that moaning sound in-between gears.

the timing is retarded with the auto so it doesn't sound as good as manuals but it can be fixed by driving in manual mode...

nothing is wrong with the note though. I have a Perrin Header back and it sounds fantastic and I can barely hear it when I drive like a grandma and it granny shifts but nonetheless it has a nice deep grumble.

I have the Buddy Club Spec II which is one of the loudest cat backs out there with my AT FRS and I am starting to wonder if the majority of the people posting in this thread even have an automatic 86. Most of the posts are WAY off base.

First off, even the BCS II does not drone with an AT, this is mainly because of the taller gearing I he AT so I spend that vast majority of my time under 2k rpms even at 70mph.

Second, you can get away with a louder exhaust without drawing too much attention to your self when the car is in Drive because it will always shift below 2k rpms when you aren't on it and not in Sport Mode.

I do agree with an earlier post that the exhaust sounds "best" when driving in manual, Sport Mode. The shifts are more solid and when you hold rpms to nearly 4k before shifting, it makes a really cool pause, pop sound (its hard to describe) when shifting. It sounds the best with the silencer out but this isn't really the way to go if you aren't trying to announce yourself to every law enforcement officer for a half-mile.

Bottom line, get the exhaust you want. The Perrin and Nameless are still the best out there IMHO regardless of your transmission. I only got the BCS II because of the weight difference for autocross.

I have an automatic with the Nameless OP/FP and offset axleback and I love the sound. Sounds great.

the proof is in the pudding, and that pudding is my own car. i can back that up for anyone who wants to stand by with a camera. It's not so terrible that its unbearable, but when it just goes ...

bwaaah, bwaah, bwahhhhhh, bwaahhhhh, and then starts trying to drive at 40 in 5th and falls into sixth the moment you let off the gas.

Let's just say, auto in manual mode, shifted above 3k sounds the best when you have a loud aggressive exhaust. it might be good for the deep tone low volume, but not an exhaust with balls.

I have the Evo3 and it's awesome driving in both auto and in manaul. In auto it's not as loud and aggressive unless you get on the gas. In manual you can ride the gear longer and hold those nice growling sounds.

I bought the Borla cat back system for my auto trans. I absolutely love it! I can't wait to get a cool air intake I will try to get a video recorded tonight of it, I have had it installed for about a month and a half now. I definitely notice a WHP gain, a heck of a lot easier to kick out the rear wheels. The note is deep which I love as well.

I'm looking for a nice pure bass exhaust note with none of that tin can metallic rasp I see in some videos. Seems like the Nvidia N1, Borla, or Perrin are closest to what I'm looking for, but I'm still searching. I LOVE the sound of my 05 STI's exhaust when it's just idling and putting around. You can hear it a block away, but it's just pure bass.
