Silencers?
Hey all another post, I just ordered this: Invidia N1 Catback Exhaust - TI Tips
Most posts I see ask the same question "did you install silencers" What exactly are they referring to? is this some type of option when the exhaust is installed and what does it do? I'm just looing for a good sound. Edit: can mods move this to the exhaust section |

Your N1 comes with silencers for each pipe. They simply slip in and 1 bolt on the bottom goes through the tip and the silencer which holds them down.
I circled them below: ![]() The silencers are simply to reduce the noise the exhaust produces. Most people don't put them in, because it can negate the gains the exhaust provides, but there's a lot of differing opinions on that. If you are worried about the noise level, either personally because it's too loud for your tastes, or for others such as getting tickets or waking neighbors you can put them in to reduce the noise. Another thing to take into consideration is that there's a "break-in" period for exhausts. It vary's for different makes and models, but because I personally own the N1, I can tell you that after 1000 miles the exhaust gets much quieter. The first few weeks I had it, on even light throttle it would resonate in the cabin and be a bit unbearable. Since break in, it has quieted down and I love the deep throaty sound it produces. |

Judging by it being called a "silencer", it's only safe to assume it plays a part in "silencing" the exhaust noise.

Did you install them yourself? It's about 2 weeks out "guessing"... but I plan on having the dealership put it on.

Yeah, I put it on myself. Super easy job. Exhaust hangers were a bit snug. That took the longest. New car, so the exhaust bolts didn't seize up.
