If you want and would be adding HID, push button start and LED DRL to a standard FR-S anyway then this seems like a good deal to me. You would be getting the other features (?) like glowing badge, HVAC, exclusive paint and seatbelts for free.

Personally, none of that stuff impresses me in the least and I would buy a FR-S with the base stuff and be happy because I am more interested in performance. But I see guys on this forum adding all that stuff aftermarket and it cost them a fortune out of pocket. With this car you get all that in the initial purchase price. Makes great marketing sense to me!

put 3k for downpayment and wont pay any interest for them. and it will be almost the same or less than buying the cheapest fr-s and buy the headlights and dash imported from japan...

just saying...

the stupid shifter and the stupid light up badges are enough reason to not buy one of these.

this isn't a tC... if they wanted us to buy the release series, they shoulda done trd parts instead of aesthetics. oh well.. but w/ the price of trd parts, you'd only be able to get one thing for 27k haha

Well, it isn't quite feigned, it's a Scion guarantee of uniqueness suggesting that the 10 Series features will only ever be available on this run of 2,500. It's the same assurance Toyota made to 2007 FJ Cruiser TRD S/E buyers for the run of 3,200 produced then and they've stuck to it. See the video in post #55.

They positioned FR-S as their price leader over BRZ so I don't think many or maybe any 10 Series features will ever be available standard. As accessories possibly, but with the two price "adjustments" over the past year already kicking MSRP over $25,000, doubtful.

But there's hope. The FR-S prototype convertible looked to have HID's and fogs.

well think if you buy the hid headlights, it will cost a pretty penny. for collectors, this will be cool because its a numbered edition. if you plan on upgrading certain things, might as well just buy bone stock frs. hands down brz's are nice, but this car is a toyota kinda car all the way imo. badges in my opinion are retarded with that glow. i like the seatbelts and the headlights and push start. those things alone are what our paying the higher price for.

Base FR-S = $24,500 without DPH.
Series 10 FR-S = $27,425 without DPH.
$27,425 - $24,500 = $2,925
So, it's $2,925 more.
I'm not sure what you're saying.

If you include DPH, then yes.
It's $24,500 without DPH.
10 series price listed on the first post here is without DPH.
So, to compare with 10 series price without DPH, you're supposed to compare base price without DPH also.

$3,000 over the Base FR-S is actually not bad (for what you are getting)...Especially in places where dealerships already mark the base car up. $28,000 is pretty cheap for an FR-S in NorCal where dealerships install $3000 leather seats.

Say it wasn't a limited production car.

If that's how much it would've cost to sell a GT 86-spec car, then that's pretty disappointing because I would've rather bought the GT 86-spec (push button, LED's, plus the new standard audio headunit) car for $3k with destination rather than the FR-S that's equipped with virtually nothing now.

That premium is what people spent to buy the LED headlights alone. For that price, on this limited production car, you're not only getting the LED headlights but also a bunch of more stuff.

Disregarding the fact that this a limited edition car, if Scion didn't stick to mono spec cars and actually offered this as a higher trim as a non limited car, I would prefer it over the stripped base one we get.

State your source. The price on Scion's website has increased twice for the FR-S since it was released. It was $24,500 at first, then increased to $24,955 (when I bought it) now $25,255, all prices were stated to include DPH. So either the price has been increasing, or the DPH has been.

You're getting all mixed up.

http://toyotanewsroom.com/releases/2...nationwide.htm
Original price was $24,200. Not $24,500.
$24,500 is the current price. Not original price.

The other two prices you listed are the price with destination charge.

The price went up only once BTW.
From $24,200 to $24,500 without destination charge.
From $24,955 to $25,255 including destination charge.
