Whole group of us will be at that show in LI if you're interested in seeing like 20 twins (might be a little less but still....)
My Friend was actually telling me about that! I was gonna go but they said "bring your pets" and well I'm deathly afraid of big dogs...damn dog bite to the face messed me up.
Anyway I actually ended up going to the islanders home playoff game-I met sparky!! ^_^ haha I'm such a child.
I'm not really into sports but I don't mind watching hockey...
Ive been logging on to take a few peeks at the forum every now and again and I never got the @mention thingy :/ The only reason I saw it now is because I took the time to read a few pages back...weird....
Did you guys have a good time?

Actually, no. It was all for a good cause so that was fine but it was far less organized than I expected. Saw a few cool cars, bought a few more exhaust parts from another owner, and had a nice drive to and from LI.

Ended up with 13+ twins.

Seagull is a hell of a shock to me with their quality.

Are you paying full (website) price for them, though? Like ~$300 for it? That's not bad at all but less would be a pretty screaming deal. Looks very JLC-ish.

I just came back from a vintage dealer (Monday vacations for the next 6 weeks);looking for a 50s to 60s dress Omega with sub-seconds and no date. In stainless. They have my number if something shows up, but being specific with vintage is tough.

I also have a lead on a Seiko Speedtimer (the first auto chronograph ever sold to the public, despite Zenith's premature announcement) that I'll find out about next weekend.

Almost as exciting as cars, but don't need a giant garage to keep them all in.
I paid 190 for a second-hand one since it happened to pop up on watchuseek, but most people who buy them keep them The last generation of Seagull watches was a screaming deal at <200 for basically everything full retail! Recently they jacked the prices up a ton so it's a bit more difficult to swallow, but they did make improvements.

For me the cool thing about these Chinese watches is that at under 200 bucks you can get a really fantastic piece of art. They tend to have nice classic designs with very nicely finished dials, and a decent automatic movement. I haven't even seen that many nice watches in person before but looking at a lot of pictures is enough to see that there's a clear difference between that gold bling bling Michael Kors/Armani/Fossil nonsense and real artwork. How they manage to sell a plated steel quartz movement watch with nothing other than "Marc Jacobs" etched into the metal for 300 bucks is beyond me.

Vintage watches are neat but they seem pretty hard to hunt down.

@Calum my Perrin pulley appears to be collecting dirt under my hood in much the way way you've described elsewhere.

I may switch to Kartboy if I start hearing of more problems resulting from this but for the moment I'm trying to decide on the best way of cleaning out my engine bay. It's getting a little dirty.

I wonder how safe it would be to just hit the whole thing with some engine cleaner and hosing it down. My intake is in the bumper so I think it's safe. Not sure of what else I'd need to be careful of that doesn't already have a decent shot at getting wet in a solid rain storm anyway.

My Orient is a pretty good deal. It's a Japanese assembled, fully proprietary movement with high quality anti-shock jewel supports, cased in an Orient factory in Brazil that does the rest of the stuff. Full sapphire front and back, screw down crown, crown rotated time zone bezel, 100m WR, with the world time (24h ring rotates at half the hour speed counter clockwise for the other timezones) and power reserve complications. Under $450 on Amazon.

Decoration doesn't look as good as the Seagull, though.

I'm thinking about getting the current entry level macbook pro (13 in 2.5 GHz i5, 4 GB of RAM), not interested in investing any more than the $1,099 for a laptop. I would like to be able to run a DAW and video and photo editing software on it even though it would not be my primary computer.

Do I go for it or is that money better off going toward a PC? I want something durable that runs smoothly, and that is what I typically hear about macs, but if I am wrong please let me know.

Power reserve is a nice feature and I think Orient executes it well aesthetically.

Here's the Shanghai, just got here via DHL:
