Never seen the Beat before, I like! I've always been a sucker for undersized two-seaters (Opel GT, MR2, MG Midget). Adding this to the list of cars I wish I owned!

This is a Japanese kei class car, so it would be noticeably undersized even in that group. They have a mid-mounted 660 (I think that is the kei engine limit) cc engine. Not sure if the Beat is turbocharged or not, but a lot of kei cars are.

Where I live is pretty much North America's capital of grey-market JDM imports, but I've only seen two here in person and they are TINY. One was parked beside, and dwarfed by an EG (1992-1995) Civic hatchback. But similar era Honda styling.

Another in the tiny roadster class is the Suzuki Cappuccino, which I haven't seen yet. RWD, turbo 660cc.

Lol, obviously he has other things in mind.

And if I did that, with past gf's, and we were with other people (friends/family) around/public place I would have been slapped for that asap. Other times... not that much.

My Seiko 5 was my gateway watch. I didn't know reliable automatics could be that cheap. It's small, light, and keeps so-so time (gains about 2 minutes per week). But the clasp feels flimsy after wearing the Orient's.

All Seiko watches are bidirectional winding. Some Chinese movements copied their system. I've seen them advertised with 'Seiko-style magic lever'.
Hmmm interesting, I looked at the weight and I could've sworn that it was unidirectional from the way it fell one direction with much less resistance. Some Miyota movements are unidirectional apparently :O

Getting both watches today whee. So excited. The Seagull ST 2130 movement is supposed to be very accurate too, which is nice. Oh, sapphire crystal on both the front and back too.

Yesterday I went to downtown SF and was so disappointed that there were maybe 2 stores that weren't selling BS watches like Michael Kors or whatever. Need to hunt down some legit watch stores sometime and satisfy my watch hunger.

The watch world is confusing, sifting through the crap, eh? It's weird for me learning that your all Chinese Seagull is a lot better than a lot of Swiss or Japanese movements that are haphazardly thrown into garbage like Invicta. And then you have the other Chinese makers which are so laughably terrible that they seem like Swiss propaganda.

Seagull is a hell of a shock to me with their quality.

Are you paying full (website) price for them, though? Like ~$300 for it? That's not bad at all but less would be a pretty screaming deal. Looks very JLC-ish.

I just came back from a vintage dealer (Monday vacations for the next 6 weeks);looking for a 50s to 60s dress Omega with sub-seconds and no date. In stainless. They have my number if something shows up, but being specific with vintage is tough.

I also have a lead on a Seiko Speedtimer (the first auto chronograph ever sold to the public, despite Zenith's premature announcement) that I'll find out about next weekend.

Almost as exciting as cars, but don't need a giant garage to keep them all in.
