how about a group buy
I'm running a unichip and part of their kit includes plugs for 4 sensors including the MAF. I have been running w/o the AEM provided module as I figured it would just mess with the tune. I've had good results and my car runs great with no CEL. So until I see otherwise, I will keep doing what I'm doing.

Unichip should have the AEM calibrated tune in the next week or two. I'm guessing they will provide some more color after they tune their maps. I'm running the Injen map and it's worked great for me. I'm anxious to get the AEM map as it's probably more optimal.

Not sure why people want to go from stock CAI to a short ram intake. cAI always make more power

Aem is a true cold air intake , but uses the factory snorkel, i like it , and have had no issues. Curious about numbers though.

I think the AFR learning in the ECU would negate any electronic MAF module add on, as it would learn out any differences made to voltage anyway and uses that as a starting point from the stored learned values when it goes in to open loop fueling. So when you go WOT it may initial make a difference for about a second and then the ecu would correct this in open loop. Same effect can be tested by rescaling your MAF sensor to a purposly off value, if you made your Maf sensor off by 10% it wouldn't equate to 10% actual AFR difference in open loop, it would be a portion of that initialy and then the ecu would work out the mistake and quickly adjust the AFR to the get the desired Open Loop fueling target.

The module may help for the inital period before the ECU has done its AFR learning on intake install and ECU resets.

Even with that said this intake should make more power at high rpm purely because it flows better than the stock unit and sucks cold air from the same spot, not sure about the cabin noise generator delete though ( i assume it deletes it based on the pics on their web site) i like the cabin noise when putting the foot down.

It does delete the snorkle, but sounds better and makes up for it. It would be nice for someone to come up with a better snorkle design , it seems kinda skinnny, and i dont like the resonators in it, i want to hear the intake.

From my understanding, the maf add on does not change voltage, but some how cleans up the signal that is sent. Not sure how this works, but when i unplug it and use it without the add on it runs kinda crappy in my opinion, no idle issues just less power. Most power is felt up top id say 5800 rpms on but noticeable. Im still waiting to see the dynos we were promised. This weather has been nuts.

I am installing this AEM tuned intake this weekend. I chose this intake over all others because it specifically had this tuned with the electronic chip to correct the MAF readings. I don't want my engine running too lean or rich based on that. All other CAI and short rams do not have this tuned feature. Thus why it's $450.00USD MSRP.

I suspect that I would have just purchased a drop in filter if this did not work out.

So if I was installing this intake, should I put my snorkel back in or no?

no place for the snorkel w/ the AEM just blocks off w/ the supplied cap where the tube bolts on to the engine cover. i really like mine had it about 4 months now.
