I hope to get one of the non launch editions, and see about pushing a bit more boost...300whp should be feasible with that engine!
i dont think the resale will be very good though. similar to the elise, i imagine many people buying this for an entry level super car only to realize that it isnt exactly what they expected

i dont think the 4c is really a competitor to the frs

Nice car....but in Italy we say..."a car that fits well for afterdinner drink to capture eyes". Good techs contents..but out of range of Cayman.
As older owner of Alfa (the true Alfa), this one doesn't excite me.

To resurrect this thread, the Alfa Romeo 4C is priced at around 55k starting.

Without anyone with seat time it's a moot point, but for power to weight figures the 4c is waaaaay better. With an 1800lb dry weight (2000lb est. curb weight) and an estimated 270BHP engine (7.4lbs/hp), this looks a hell of a lot better than the Cayman's 2932lb curb weight and 275BHP(10.7lbs/hp). The Cayman S rings in at 2910lbs and 325BHP (8.9lbs/hp). Then take into account the 4c is a carbon monocoque chassis with aluminum subframes (like a real supercar) vs. the Cayman's aluminum spaceframe. It's gonna be really interesting when the 4c comes out because it's gonna be either really good or fall on its face, needless to say the fact that a car with a carbon monocoque chassis is even remotely affordable will send waves through the industry.

Think about it, CF monocoque is safer than metal, lighter, and stronger. It will help cars shed weight and increase fuel economy. Lower HP engines will be able to be used to hit performance numbers reserved for the true exotics. It's really exciting to be honest!
for the US is weights 2400LBS. It gained 200-300LBS due to US crash standards. Still looks to be a hell of a car. previews are coming and most think this car at base + 500 race exhaust aka muffler delete is the only thing you need.

This car seems to be exactly what most twins owners yearn for if only they were at the $60K buying mark instead of $30K. It embodies all of the same dynamics but taken to the next level then adds in c/f chassis, mid engine and sexy Italian curves. Regardless of what the video review stated, I would take one of these over a base Cayman all day everyday. Now a GT4 would be another story but then you move into six figures.

It looks to be a fun car, but the fatal flaw for me is the lack of a MT. For a sports car in this category, I'd really want a good 6MT setup.

It depends on what you need/want in a car. You can easily DD a Cayman S. You cannot DD the Alfa.

Once I learned this car would be around $60k my ears perked up. I've been following it as closely as the limited info from Alfa will provide; even went to the NY auto show just to get an up-close look. I would like to replace my BRZ with a 4C Spider in 2-3 years, assuming the Spider is offered in the U.S.

I calculate I'll have spent a 4C's cost on the BRZ between the price of the car and modifications by then... jeez!

Make mine Rosso Competizione with black leather, black brake calipers, 18/19" wheels, and the "Racing exhaust" (no muffler)

The dealer me keeps pushing me back, first they said 4-6 weeks back in August, now they tell me the same thing in September.

For shits and giggles i called the dealership in New Jersey and they don't even have an estimate of when they're getting theirs.

Damn shame.

Alphas are wonderful in the same way as dating hot crazy women. You know the whole time that they are going to leave you a regretful financial ruin by the end of the relationship, but somehow it seems worth it while it last.

That's really annoying. I've noticed they haven't released any updates anywhere. I'm holding out for the Spider version anyhow, so no rush for me, but if you really want one now that is frustrating. It just concerns me as to whether or not they're even coming!
