Anyone have a Perrin cat back exhaust? Advice?

Does anyone local have a Perrin cat back exhaust? Here's the story:

I want a Perrin cat back. Originally I decided on the non-resonated version because I'm not planning other exhaust upgrades in the near- or mid-future. But a resonated version has presented itself to me and I have to decide on whether or not I want this resonated version or wait for a non-resonated.

I usually take the subtler approach with my cars- I try to make them more 'as they should have come from the factory' rather than obviously modified, but at the same time if I'm going to pay for the exhaust I'd like to be able to hear it.

Any thoughts? Local owners with one that I can hear?

Before I settled on the Perrin I was also considering Nameless axle-back, and now they've come out with a revised version, so I have no idea how that compares.

Have you been out to any of the meets? I got my Perrin un-resonated after hearing Russell's Perrin on one of the first Mid-Atlantic meets, you might want to hear it from someone that has it first.

The only complaint I have about mine is with a cold start, it is loud! But after the motor warms up, 10 or so seconds, that its a nice deep purr until you decide to really accelerate.

It was loud when I first installed it, after putting about 1000 miles on it its quieted down and now sounds perfect in my opinion. Still have the loud cold starts that scares the neighbors though.
Its comparable to the volume of the GT3's I've been seeing around, except deeper sound.

People that know the car well will know it isn't stock. My friend's that know nothing about the car think its completely stock.

Hope that helps.

Even though its resonated, it still louder than stock. You can hear the rumble when its warmed up and its a little louder than stock, and it sounds better in my opinion. PM me and we can arrange something. I'm usually free in the afternoon on most days.

I have a resonated Perrin. Couldn't be happier. If you are the slightest bit concerned about sound, just get the resonated. I had a Nameless axle-back, which I sold after two months. I was not happy with it; too loud (ear pain loud, actually). I like a mild tone. I'm a fan of a loud car only if it moves as fast as it sounds.

Granted I have a full header back now, your welcome to come to CDC this Saturday and listen to mine.

I realize I'm a too far south to arrange a meeting, but speaking as a catted/resonated/op owner I agree completely with what has been said. Cold starts are wicked loud, but once it idles warm, it's barely above stock noise level with a much nicer tone. Unless you step on it, that is. Put the pedal down, and it sounds nice and mean. It took a little longer for mine to burn in, maybe 250 miles or so, but I also have the Perrin CAI and inlet tube which lowers the tone and adds some grunt in the midrange. I'm active duty Navy, and the base cops love to rag on modified cars for noise levels so I had to go resonated, but after hearing an unresonated with similar upgrades, I'm glad I went resonated.

I'm planning on going resonated, once I go front pipe and eventually header I think I'll be glad I did.

Thanks for letting me listen to your exhaust today! I really like the tone of it, but to me it's just a bit quieter than I am looking for. I'll have to see if I can find a non-resonated version eventually. I really like sound quality of the Perrin exhausts!

Thanks again!

I'll echo what the others have said. With the non-resonated CBE the cold starts are wicked. I live in a condo and in the underground garage the cold starts can be a little embarassing to say the least, but otherwise I'm glad I went with the non-resonated after hearing the resonated. It's a bit too quiet for my tastes.
