My beater (98 Cherokee) has some quirks like that.

My brother drove it the other day and had trouble starting it.

Sometimes the shifter doesn't register as in park so you have to push it/hit it before turning the key.

On my 92 Civic, I have to shift it to first before I can go into reverse. If I don't, it will grind going into reverse, lol.

The speedometer and odometer don't work sometimes, which makes it difficult to track MPG and to ensure I don't go over the speed limit, lol.

I have that..... my gauges will randomly drop to nothing while driving and not record any miles. I stuffed a wad of napkins in a spot where it will push the cluster back into its plugs constantly.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I've already replaced the speed sensor and that didn't fix it. I'm pretty sure it's the cluster, but I don't feel like buying a replacement cluster for this car.

The speedo appears to work once the car is warmed up though. I'm not sure if it's because there's a better connection when the car is warmed up or what.

To finishing Semester... Only big thing stopping me right now is this... 8-9 page (I'll do 8 because it meets the minimum/standard) research paper. lol
