My season starts in a week, and hopefully I'll have a better feel for this car. In my previous track car, with 60 more Hp and 400 lbs more weight, instead of going wider, I kept the 225 profile, but I switched to better compound to minimize acceleration loss with the heavier tire (I had light weight flywheel/clutch too ). I went from basic street Z1 to Nitto Nt1, and handling/corner grip was night and day. I think this car with even less Hp would not be wise to carry a larger/wider tire, if you can have much better grip and heat capacity with lighter tire but better compounds.
That said, I'd love to see a comparison between 225 Nitto Nt1 vs G-Force R1's. Also just out of morbid curiosity. The same tires but with 225 fronts and 235 rears just to see if wider is wiser at 200 crank Hp? Since I don't see any real reason to penalize the fronts with heavier tire. |

I went MIA for the weekend, but I had my laptop with me. I've been going through the archive of the "everything else" data looking for the "good" laps, and only made it about 1/3 of the way through (few thousand logs, although I can cut out most of the fluff based on log date). It's coming! |

@acro: strictly dyno numbers?
My current belief (and I may be wrong) is that ECU tunes on california 91 octane have zero power gains without cat deletes. I'm certainly open to evidence showing otherwise. E85 changes things a bit as well. |

CA people, like us, are limited in ECU tuning power gains because we have some of the worse gas in the country. The US 86s are tuned for the lowest grade commonly available "premium" gas which is CA 91 Octane. You folks in other regions have better gas and therefore you can create a custom tune with ECUtek or (insert Engine Mgmt here) which will and have yielded more power all things being similar (I/H/E, etc..).
