And yet again I'd suggest against it in general, unless the "pure gas" is next to some race track. Most of those are boat-filling stations or some other special application not safe in a car.

So I got the high pressure fuel pump assembly replaced today. drove it how (about 20 km) and there is no chirping sound at all, I had it taken in before and they called me on Friday after seeing the bulletin. seems to have fixed the problem

Keep us posted. Owners that have gotten their pumps replaced as short as a month ago are getting chirps again.

Crickets were awful this weekend. Every stop light all you can hear is the cricket mating season. I've had the pump replaced once so far.

Explain. I don't follow your logic.

Ask them what's in their "ethanol-free premium" gas.
What 100% of stations around me had was originally 89-octane ethanol-free gas with a butt-load of marine-grade octane booster added. It's your call to use that in your car, but keep a spare OEM catalytic in your garage.

Has anyone else noticed the chirping going away after 7.5-8k miles? Could this be related to break-in?

Mine just went away on the last couple tanks of gas. I have 9k miles on my car now.

Never had an issue with any of my cars using this fuel... Hell - no one had an issue with it before 2007 when everyone had ethanol free gasoline. People weren't clogging cats all of the time back then and I doubt it will start now. I thought you had some sort of legitimate information to prove your point...

He's saying that the boat dock is using cheap marine octane booster to prevent knock, I know I wouldn't fuel up there if that was the case, you have no idea what they're adding to it, could be cat piss. Which is why you shouldn't use aviation fuel in a modern vehicle, that usually has lead in it.

Logic, the quoted post has none. 2007? What's that got to do with anything?

LOL.
Enjoy your marine octane booster far exceeding EPA-legal levels for street use.

FYI: you're clogging your cat for nothing. Ethanol-free gas just delays the onset of chirping by several thousand miles.

What it has to do with is that ethanol free gasoline was EVERYWHERE pre-2007. It isn't any different. I don't live near any body of water, so marine-targeted is out the window. Sorry you have to buy shitty gas.

Catless FTW

"Regular" premium pre-'07 gas and what passes for "premium ethanol-free" one at many 'pure-gas' stations are two very different things. One was purposefully refined to produce 91+ octane, the other is often 89 octane with a level/content of octane booster that is illegal and unsafe for cars.

I'm sure there are some pure-gas stations that sell proper gas for cars, but one has to ask very specifically about what's in the gas they sell.
99.9% of people don't care about ethanol, and when there's a station that sells it - there's a pocket of demand. Sometimes it's from car guys (near a race track), but more often - it's not from car guys. There are lots of other engines that run on gas and some of them require ethanol-free juice. In this case one has to be extra careful.
