Haha you suck!!

Ehh I was hoping to have it done by Monday, but I don't see that happening. I should be fine though!

Whats your current oil change interval and how long are you planning on going with Sustina?

If you were local, I'd gladly loan you 6 quarts till you got yours

Well this is my first oil change at 3000 miles. I plan on going about 6k with sustina. I actually received the oil today! I never received an email about it being shipped or any kind of tracking. The order status still says processing, but I don't think the filter I ordered came with it, that may be it, but I'll have to check.

I appreciate the generosity though!

The filter most likely will be shipped from elsewhere, you'll probably have that soon too!

Anyone a member of BITOG? Do they have some secret forum or something?

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=2982337

I'm getting "Access Denied". Kinda curious as what's in that thread as The title on Google says "Who wants the real info on Sustina 0W-20?". Sounds like its bad.

Guess who got banned for making that thread.

Hint: He has boxes of Eneos Sustina, as seen earlier in this thread.

Ah, it was deleted? That's why I couldn't view it. What the hell did it say?! What could be wrong with it? The only reason I was Googling it was to buy a case. Seeing that made me hold off.

Nothing.

I just said that I had a good supply of this oil along with a method for monitoring oil temps and soon oil pressure. I was going to collect ECU data along with getting some used oil analysis to show how this stuff stacked up to the competition. I made the thread to see what other data people would like to see. I had planned to keep that a running thread with my data.

Apparently BITOG doesn't like it when someone makes their first post in a manner of "promoting" a non-sponsored product. Obviously I made no claims to promote the oil, it was just my way of spreading information. Oh well. I tried.

That sucks. I don't doubt it, though.

I registered there shortly after seeing your thread, just in case it was a private forum. After 6 attempts at guessing the captcha, the security question was, "what's the square root of 12?". Ok, you wanna ask a slightly harder question, fine, but make it the square root of 9 or 25, not an answer that requires most to use a calculator. In any event, after all that, the answer I gave (3.46) was "incorrect"?! Did they want 8 places past the decimal, or what?!

Anyway, I finally got a successful reg. and 8 hours later it's DENIED. The email said, "location?". Whatever!

Well, thankfully the oil is ok. I thought you were gonna say it was made from deer pee and virgin's blood or something.*

If that's seriously their security question they must really not want new members.

Unless I end up having a lot of data, I'm just gonna post stuff here.

Is there anything you guys are interested in specifically? I have ecutek and can pull all ECU readings and as I said before, I should have an oil pressure gauge once I can figure out a very stealth install.

I'm thinking about just going 4k on the current fill and then send a sample to Blackstone for their opinion on it. I think the most I'll increase my OCI to is 7500 miles unless its still looking really good there. I keep 100mL retain samples of all the oil I pull for no legitimate reason at all but just in case Blackstone loses a sample or any other unforeseen circumstance.

For those that don't know, the highlight of sustina is its high viscosity index. Basically it retains the same viscosity over a wider range of temperatures than your typical 0w20. This is mostly better for cold starts and improved fuel economy when the engines not at operating temp. Not that we should really be concerned with fuel economy difference to an oil but someone might be interested in the negligible difference

I think if you can get a good trend with uoa's it's something very helpful. So many people judge an oil based on one or two uoa's (although it's not entirely accurate to try to judge an oil on many uoa's). Detailed OP readings would be useful as well. It will also be helpful to include TBN to see if the oil is still maintaining good cleaning ability for the entire interval. Blackstone's basic uoa is a bit lacking, IMHO, and Oil Analyzers Inc. gives a better bang for the buck. They include TBN, oxidation, and nitration all cheaper than Blackstone's basic uoa.

As to bitog, consider yourself in good company. One of the top tribolgists in the country was kicked off of the site for the same reason even though he had nothing to gain from talking up another brand based on data. He also spoke his mind about all oils, regardless if they were a sponsor or not.

Actually, if you want the ultimate uoa, his are really the way to go. Blackstone and OAI is for entertainment purposes only.

Damn, he's pricey! Sure it's well worth it, but that's not a price I'd want to pay every 3-5K miles.

Laika, I'd say just post everything you can. It seems that Eneos, compared to many others, anyway, gets a lot less exposure. Truthfully, while what I've read about Sustina sounds/looks great, there really aren't that many examples out there. I'm not even sure what it is, (besides the high number of trimmer type moly and VI) that's drawing me to using it!

Fantastic! As promising as Dyson looks, I think for repeated testing, OAI might be a good option due to price. I'm going to research this some more before I say OAI for sure. I'll probably do about 4-5 consecutive UOA's. I do see what you mean by "entertainment purposes only". I can send out a microbial sample at work and it takes almost no effort for the contract lab to do it yet we'll pay as much as $80 for one sample. Blackstone or anyone offering a REAL oil analysis for sub $30 is not realistic.

Alternatively, I'm going to see if I can do anything worthwhile in my own lab but I'm pretty swamped right now.
