Are there any big differences in warranty between scion and subaru?
No, it is crazy that everyone else does care.

In Australia a lot of Toyota dealerships take your warranty from 3 years to 5 years for no charge, but also Subaru dealerships throw in three years servicing with the car at no cost. So it's a bit of a difference here. I doubt that's the case in the US, though.

I knew about the suspension tunes, they were in CAR (there's a big lift out section where they compare track times and handling from the 86/BRZ edition in May last year-- 86 is faster around Tsukuba in "G" form). But that's a minor feel issue with the 86 prone to oversteer and the BRZ more neutral, and that'll be gone with lowering springs anyway.

But what sold me were two things;
1) 86 was out first, with an RRP for both models. Subaru were waiting to say anything at all and I was afraid they weren't even going to release the car here. So were most motoring magazines.
2) The dash. It might not sound like much (and I don't mean the silver panels, I mean the actual dash-- with the gauges) but not having that white stripe on the tacho bugged me and I didn't like the font as much. It might be a holdover from loving Nissan and TRD stuff but that white stripe looks kickin' to me.

In the end I might have gone for a BRZ in WRB if I'd have known the configuration we'd get locally, but whatever, I've got what I've got and I'm happy to have it. In the US the equipment levels are split with BRZ only getting climate and prox-key, which are things I wanted. If I was over there I'd be going BRZ:P.

Most interior electronics were by Subaru with some exceptions (stalks, cruise control controls)-- Thus the subtle differences in plastics. Some interior parts are built at a combination of places but overall it comes together fairly well.

Just flat out saying Subaru did the mechanical work and Toyota the styling is a pretty broad oversimplification-- It truly was a team effort. Subaru gets the privilege of actually building them for us, however.

Sorry for being picky and over-info-ey, but frankly I think this is the most successful team effort in Japan in a very long time, and I think it should be celebrated in its convoluted glory.
Good stuff, but this bit just isnt true.

(Note; Quote was about Yamaha heads)

Yep. Unfortunately I picked up a rumour, I just left it alone since I didn't come back for a while. My apologies!
