What would be your ideal BRZ STI?
Assuming Subaru decides to make one, what would you want it to be? Try to be realistic and not dream up a BRZ STI with features and performance of a 458 Italia and expect it to cost 30k.
Here's what I would like to see: -Stroked or bored/stroked to 2.2 - 2.4 liters, 8k redline, engine/ecu tuned to 240-260hp -Stiffer suspension and chassis braces, 1" lower -Biggest brakes out of Subaru's parts bin with nice pads and without going Brembos(overkill in a car this light and to keep cost down) -Lighter weight(aluminum roof and trunk if the BRZ doesn't already have them) -Forged BBS wheels with higher rated summer tires -Lip splitter/spoiler, rear trunk lid lip, fender vent as seen on BRZ STI Concept(functional please) -STI specific interior(not much thought put into interior, maybe suede wrapped steering wheel, STI embroidered seats) -30K price tag and ~3mpg less than standard BRZ In addition I would like to see an optional BRZ STI for the same price or 1k premium. Maybe called BRZ STI club sport, " " track edition, " " spec C, or something similar with everything listed above plus: -Navi/stereo and speakers delete with gauges in it's place -Foglight delete with brake cooling ducts -More agressive splitter and rear spoiler -Recaro seats Bottom line, ~2650lbs, 240-260hp, 30k, 27mpg Preemptive response to "why no turbo?" I just think throwing on a turbo will add weight and throw off the weight distribution. Will also cost more in terms of parts added to the car. So what would you want to see in an STI variant? You can add/subtract from my list or just create your own if you envision something completely different. |

Honestly, from subaru I'm more interested in the WRX that will probably be based on this platform than in an upgraded BRZ.
I see the BRZ as being a sort of hard top 2+2 Miata, in which case 200 hp is plenty. |

Will take me a little bit of time to think of something else to add. Seems like you nailed it.

1.6l DIT engine displayed at TMS (hopefully around 250ish hp, and more is gravy though)
lighter suspension arms like the older STi's (yes, little i) bigger sway bars .5" to 1" lower Forged BBS's 4 pot front, 2 pot rear with a slightly larger rotor requisite STI aero bits (splitter, skirts, spoiler) SPT exhaust STI embroidered seats with the typical STI blue inserts Delete fogs Delete nav/stereo (ala 2004 STi)

Want to add that I would be torn between a base STI and a track edition.

2.0L FA, bigger cams, ITBs, higher flowing heads/exhaust, higher redline, say 8500 with ~230-240hp
Stiffer suspension with standard adjustable shocks (rebound/compression, not height) Forged wheels 5x114.3 hubs with STI brakes (don't care about the caliper, just the larger rotors would be fine) Sound deadening removal, aluminum trunk, doors, roof skin Aero improvements if needed (screw cd, zero lift or actual downforce please) Current interior could stay IMO, I like it as is and I enjoy audio driving to and from the track/autocross venue.. Price.. <35k is good.

thats a lot to ask for a STI imho from we get from the Limited,
im not very sound on STI history but when did they do this in the past? like for example going from a WRX to STI. exhaust, ecu tuned to bump it 20hp, BBS wheels, larger calipers, STI wing, roll bars, stiffer springs, lip kits, STI embroidered interior, and no nav are all i can see for an STI model right now. but everything else sounds very over the top for an STI |

Going from WRX to WRX STI involves even more than what I listed.

I want the BRZ STI to have everything that a WRX STI gets more than a WRX. With that said I want the BRZ to stay NA.
I would like a clubsport package with half rollcage, 4-point harness, Recaro racing seats, fire extinguisher, no radio, no A/C. Not to forget the wing. |

Ideal BRZ STI would be one that goes on sale today and was not excluded from the VIP program.
